I bought my Ultimate seat with a Blinker Buddy (BlinkerBuddy.com) installed by Ultimate Seats. It worked okay and I've used it for years. I visited the Blinker Buddy web site and read their installation instructions and looked at the Ultimate Seats installation and it didn't match up well at all. There is supposed to be 1.5" of foam between the Blinker Buddy and the top of the seat. My Ultimate seat has about 3.5". Today, following the Blinker Buddy installation instructions I cut a deeper well into the seat foam to place the Blinker Buddy at the recommended depth. Man, what a difference. Before it was about 1/3 the vibration level and 2/3 noise of the Blinker Buddy touching the radio box of my Interstate. The vibration level was so low that I could sometimes not notice or hear it except at a near stop. I mean, come on now, the Valkyrie doesn't vibrate and I have unmolested pipes so I expect the Blinker Buddy to perform very well under these circumstances.

After the surgery it's now 100% vibration and very little noise. It must simply take too much time and effort for Ultimate Seats to cut into the foam to do the installation correctly. That said, it only took me a few minutes to do it right.

For now on, if I ever find my battery run down I'll be asking my wife about how it happened.  2funny

This is where I started. The original Ultimate Seats Installation.

Just clip off the tie wraps and set aside the Blinker Buddy.

I used an adjustable utility knife and set if for about a 2" depth.

I cut along each side and one end.

Then using just my fingers I pulled the foam loose on three ends leaving a "hinge" on one end.

I simply stuffed the Blinker Buddy in the pocket.

And pushed the foam back in place.

I cut a short piece of dowel rod in half . . .

. . . to take up the gap left by the now-relocated Blinker Buddy and replaced the original tie wraps.

You might contact Des at Ultimate and ask him about the way it was installed.

Des might have a worker too lazy to do it correctly.

What I'm trying to say is, he might not be aware of this problem.

If he is aware of it, then go ahead a blast him.

I installed mine a couple of years ago, IS with ultimate seats. As I remember I adjusted it a few times until I was happy. No noise, just vibration. Then I wired in a relay so I could apply front or rear brake to stop the vibration while at a long traffic light and that works well for me. Some guys look funny at me when they find that my seat can vibrate.  Firefighter

I like the relay idea. I'm going to copy that! Was your Blinker Buddy initially surface mounted like mine?

No, my bike did not have a blinker buddy. I saw that option on line, ordered it along with my back rest (which I love), and installed it.  Firefighter
