Hi I drained the carbs today for winter storage. Wondering if I did it correct. Opened all 6 screws to drain gas. All gas came out of one hose on right side of bike and only drained about 1/2 cup of gas. I am wondering if 1/2 cup was enough gas to completely drain the gas. I sat on bike to keep it level. Am I good or did I do something wrong.
Thanks Jim

You did good. I usually run up to the station, fill the tank, turn the gas off and head for home.
I pull up to the garage door and it will run for about 30 seconds and MGM is out of gas in the carbs.
Come spring, turn on the gas and fire MGM for the riding season.
Done that since the winter of 97/98. NO carb problems. I also use SeaFoam about every 3rd or 4th tank of fuel, and especially when he is parked for the winter he gets a snoot full of SeaFoam.

Just did mine an hour ago, dumped some stabil in, rode to gas station filled it up, rode home (12 miles) shut gas off and let it die and parked it. Been doing this for several years without any problems.

I don't drain mine and never have without any problems. I do however ride a several times during the winter months and start both bikes regularly and let idle for several minutes after warm up

For about the first 12-13 years I just filled the tank along with a can of Sea-foam and Let it sit all winter. Never an issue. Now over the last few years I do the same except I run the carburetors dry and open the drains to let any little extra fuel out. Still no problems. I set the bike up straight, charge the battery, overfill the tires, cover it up with a light breathable cover and wait for May.

If im not going to ride I wont start my bike. Good way to blue pipes and get condensation built up in the pipes. Every time the bike starts it should be ran up to operating temperature to burn off all the condensation. Just better to let it sit all winter in my opinion.

I do like RJ and Gavin_Sons. Take stabilizer to the gas station with me, add enough for the size of the tank, fill'er up, turn off the gas, and drive home the right distance so the one or two cylinders still working need full throttle to get the bike up into the garage, then gas it 'till it stalls. When I get around to it I'll pull the battery, change the oil, and give the bike a thorough cleaning. It'll be good to go in March or April.

Look at the pipes on the bee pictured below 1997 and never polished once and zero blueing. I think blueing comes from running too rich In many cases

Yea. I feel your pain Gentlemen. I, myself have to park the Dragon for 7 - 10 days every winter too. Tough times in Southern Central California.

Plus you live 400 miles south of me and have better weather during the winter months.
