It was that time again, time for the annual inspection.  The inspector walked out, checked the VIN and the odometer, and had to look at it twice.  "Wow.  That's a lot of miles on a motorcycle!  The most I've ever seen before is 53k."

I had the same thing happen to me. The inspector was checking the mileage, and I mentioned it was on it's second time around....... He just gave me this funny look.  Shocked

I have another 893,000 miles to go before rollover, so I didn't have to convince him of anything.

Same here, but my total at the time was only 89K miles.  When I go over the century mark, the comments will be more interesting at my inspection station.

After March 1, 2015 it will be interesting--have to get inspection to get the registration tag.

I see that bit about inspection and registration being little to no impact.  It will just mean that they'll be done at the same time of year instead of being independent.  The biggest impact will be that you can't do one every 13 months by getting your inspection just a hair late every year.

I've always done the 13 month thing on my cars. Honestly though, I think my bikes were last inspected 4 or 5 years ago, guess I'll hafta start doing that... Wish we could get with it like other states that are doing away with the inspection thing altogether...

FYI- Come March of 2015 there will be no separate inspection tag. You will have 90 days before your plate is due to get your vehicle (car or bike) inspected. The results will be put in the computer, so when you purchase your tag they can see you got inspected and they will issue just one tag. You will no longer have to put an inspection sticker on your car or bike.

I used to do the same thing, but got the $92 ticket (VA) two years running.  The inspection tends to expire over the winter, and the first good spring riding weekend, the Troopers set up checkpoints at all the favorite riding intersections (cars, bikes, everyone).  $92 buys a lot of $16 inspections.

You think I would have learned after just one, but no, it took two.   crazy2:

Given the quality of the inspections conducted on bikes, it's nothing more than another tax.
