Work sucks _Let's ride

West Virgina

« on: August 16, 2009, 01:58:14 PM »

Got to hook up with a bunch of fellow Valk riders on Friday and make a memorial ride for Dan Stocker to the New River Gorge Bridge. 25 or so rode to the bridge ,and then Davey and a few split off to head back to the hotel. Rode back to Lewisburg with the rest of the gang on Rt. 60 enjoying the twisties. At Lewisburg we split again with John on a Rocket and Big Daddy D on a Valk, we swung into Sparetime lounge to see if Smoking Joe and his counter parts had shown up. They had not so we three headed to Marlinton on Rt. 219 . I probaly ride harder than I should...but John and Big D ride just as hard or harder and we really started draging pipes and pegs, btw the way if he posts it John has some video of some cool twisties complete with pipes dragging that I took of him on the rocket. Highbinder and Lady Draco were at the motel when we returned .We headed to dinner at a quaint little Inn near Snowshoe....thankfully Candy girl and I had already eaten cause it turned out that for only $72 Highbinder and Tracy got a salad thingy and almost enough lamb and quail to make a sandwich.Joe ,Big Al,Thumper, and Wimp showed up at the motel making for an evening of great tire kicking and stories.
Saturday morning we woke up to another great day to ride. This time we left with 9 bikes...11 people and rode to Snowshoe,Cass,Greenbank,Seneca Rocks, and the highest point in the state Spruce Knob. All were great roads with thousands of twisties and very little gravel. This ride was plenty spirited with all the riders being somewhat on the aggressive side. Don and Tracy ended the ride with a tour of the countryside where they owned a farm a few years ago .
Candy girl and I had planned on bailing out after the ride but with all the good friends at the motel we decided to stay for another night of great fellowship and stories.
Today "Sunday" is always a little sad cause everyone is packing up to head home......We had a nice breakfast with Wimp,Thumper,Big Al,Joe,Tom,Don and Tracy,Greg and Rebeca said our goodbyes and wished them a safe ride home.
Should be some good pics from Smokin Joe here soon.
Sorry we missed you Mark "Three fan 4 life" and Debbie "Ginger" wished you had hung around for the night.  Ended up Debbie and I didn't make it back to the Motel till 8 or so

We had a great time Ron...the riding was outstanding, I almost forgot what great scenery is in that area....if anyone ever breaks down in that part of the country, Wolf is the man you want to get ahold of.....he went above and beyond to get a fellow Valk couple back on the road...when I told them you were on the way back to help them that evening you could see the relief in their smile...job well done.....we had a good time with the VOA folks, Valk riders are the same what ever club they belong to, lots of VRCC members there too...The Evil twins and hubbies..Larry and Curt..all riding black tourers and trimmed out to their personal taste..good looking group....a long with Jess from
Va....Smokin'Joe, Big Al, Big Tom, Thumper...Oss who we all missed, actually its Bonnie we missed, for some reason every time we see her Oss is there..we enjoyed it all...there were other VRCC members there from Ohio I believe don't remember the names, sorry.....

Hey Don, it was nice seeing you and Tracy again.  Met and rode with Curt and Larry and the twins on friday.  Nice folks...have no idea how they got the handle the 'evil twins,' they are a pair of sweet young ladies!  The riding all over that area is great! No straight roads, good pavement everywhere, and no traffic to speak of.  The ride from Judy Gap on 33 over the mountains into Harrisonburg VA is spectacular.  Little far for a day ride from NoVA, but I'm going back for fall colors.

Jess, was great getting to talk to you at the motel at the VOAI Reunion.  Had a GREAT time.

Hope to meet up again.

Both the VOAI and the VRCC are great clubs.  Went to both Inzane and the VOAI Reunion this year and last.  Hope they both do well.  They both deserve our support to keep them strong.
