I purchased a IS fuel tank with stock sender for my 2001 Standard; 3 ohms full and 94 ohms empty.  It reads this way with an ohm meter.  So I purchased a Classic Instruments Vintage Series Gauges VT12SLC  2" fuel gauge with settings of 0 ohms full and 90 ohms empty from Summit Racing.  I put the sender on the gauge and the ground from the sender on the ground on the gauge and power from the battery to the power and there is a full tank of gas.  It reads exactly backwards.  It goes straight to "E".  After checking EVERYTHING multiple times and making sure everything is set up correctly, I concluded it must be wired backwards and I returned it and they send me another one.  Same thing.  Goes straight to "E" when full.  I syphoned out half the fuel it goes straight down to half a tank.  So the gauge works.  I've switched wires on the ground and sender and that doesn't work at all.  I've used different grounds - that doesn't make it work either.  I've checked the tanks resistants multiple times and it changes and it reads within the ranges for full and empty.  What am I doing wrong?  Could the Vintage Brand meter simply be wired incorrectly?  I really do not know what else to try.  Any other ideas would be appreciated and considered.  Thanks for your time.

Previous posts have stated that Hondas sender is backwards from the industry standard. Motosens makes a gauge that is correctly wired for the Honda sender.

Here's a link to a thread on modifying the standard I/S fuel gauge sender to work with standard 90 ohm gauges:
