Hello,,, hope everyone is staying warm this weekend.

I am in shopping mode for hard saddle bags for my 2003 Std.  Currently have the original leather bags.  Bought a really nice rain suit last year and was storing in my Valk,,, at some point someone removed it.  (no locks on bags)

I have narrowed it down to OEM bags, tourer or Interstate.  And the second option is the Champion Patriot. (most reviews I have read hear have been great)

Honda Direct has new parts and pieces, but they say over 2500.00 for a set. Don't think I will go that way.

I have found a couple of used sets,, that will need a little work but mainly paint.  So the question is, any recommendations for someone to paint a set of saddle bags, and what is a normal/fair price for painting?

The other option is a new set of Champion/Patriot bags, which is pricey but not like the OEM bags, more in the 1500.00 range with brackets.  New brackets, new paint, and new bags.

Any opinions or ideas you would mind sharing?

thank you!

Larry Champions are nice. They are lined but as you said a bit pricey,I looked at them when I bought mine but found a set of OEM Interstate bags for a Third the cost then had them painted. Which you will have to do with Champions also.

When I did the same as you - new to me saddle-bags - I did quite a bit of calling around.  Seemed like the going price to paint the bags was around $600.

I ended up getting the whole bike painted instead.....  uglystupid2
