Steel Magnolias Tour?
«

I want to do a weekend trip to Natchitoches, La. The site of both the play and movie Steel Magnolias. There are some amazing roads around the area, as well as plantations that could be toured, etc. I spent 5 years there in school and know the area. I went back to camp this weekend and aside from rain, it was very refreshing and the roads that I KNEW would be awesome on a motorcycle where awesome.
I digress...my plan as of now is to either reserve an entire Bed and Breakfast for us all to book rooms at for either Friday AND Saturday or just Saturday. (That part of the plan is still TBT).
My main thing now is to gauge how people feel about a Bed and Breakfast vs. Camping. The campsites are pretty much off a paved road, are semi-improved. (Water, Bathroom facilities but no hot water, fire pits but finding wood can be a problem.). If you dont' care, thats option 3. If you don't want to spend the $$ for a B&B nor camp, Motel 8 or Best Western or something like that could be another option. FYI, B&B prices are from 75-200+ a night. Best Western could ultimately be over 75 a night.
IF the B&B is the way to go, I'll call about it as soon as this poll closes. Please, please please let me know if there are weekend Valk events already on the books so I can avoid that.

When are you thinking of doing this trip? I hate to vote and have my opinion considered if I will not be able to make the trip.

I second Lyn-Del's opinion, sounds good, but "when" might be a bigger probem for me.

I was eyeing the end of April. If its delayed till May, the 4 wheeler crowd will be hogging up the national forest roads.

In that case, I'll decline to vote, as I won't be available to go. Darn! Too much fun stuff booked already.
