I removed the stock pipes, and getting ready to install the new set. Question is what is the easy way to get the old cruch gaskets out. I checkup in the ports and you can see the old ones, and they are crused, so I am sure I want to replace them, Any tool work better then another at getting out the old crush gasket?

I remove the old cruch gaskets with a screw driver (a little) and after juste a few grease and the news cruch gaskets , for me it's the best  to install the new set.

I have a set of picks, got them from the Matco or Snap-On truck several years ago.   Should be available at Harbor Freight or your friendly Auto parts store.   Off the truck, they were not cheap in price.

1 of them has a bent end, 90 degree, and a point.

Reach up in the port a grab a piece of the crushed gasket & pull.   It should come right out.

Installation.

Insert new gasket.
put pipes on header bolts, use a helper from here if ya have one,
Start all the caps.
have helper hold the pipe in place
tighten up each bolt the same.

have helper hold the tailpipe where you want it.

tighten each cap screw equally.

Go for a ride,

# A ---- Before the exhaust gets cold, tighten them all again.

Repeat # A as many times as needed, be careful, the header bolts will snap real easy.    Ya break one, ya get to start all over after ya get it out and replaced, YES, I have snapped  a couple of them.     I was real lucky, I could get a good pair of vice grips on the remaining header bolt.     Never had to drill one yet, knocking on wood.

Yep I figured a little grease would hold them in place while I put the pipes back on, it's getting the old gaskets out I am asking about. I stopped work when I got to that part, but my GF had just shown up LOL. Going to try and get the old ones out tonight. I was going to try a dentail pick first, them move up to to heaver stuff, I don't want to get the power tools out for this Job, LOL.

You should be able to get them out with a screwdriver/dental-pick/any-similar-thing, it's just a mashed down
copper ring.

Careful tightening the nuts after the reinstall, and check them every ride for a few rides, the gaskets will continue to crush
down, and if you tried to tighten them all the way down in one fell swoop, you'd probably bust a stud...

thanks Steve , yes it's more easy with a little dab of grease on the new set of course

Sharky !! its very easy to get them out with a screwdriver/dental-pick/any-similar-thing, very easy , touch with your finger and look ....
put your screwdriver between the engine motor and the copper ring
give a small blow on the screwdriver to take of the ring and pull down
it's a litlle difficult for me to explain in Américan but I think you can understand me

I always have a few cheap screwdrivers in different sizes. When i get to a point, where i need a new pick, i use a torch, and bend me the needed pick from a screwdriver in the right size. A little bit grinding, after that, and i have a pick with a great handle....
