Hello everyone! I have a 99 Valkyrie Interstate. I LOVE the bike. But there is one thing that I don't love... The factory positioning of the rear brake lever. It is angled tooooo high for my foot. Having my foot over the pedal causes strain as my foot is angled up and I find I am either cramping up or pressing on the brake and definitely not meaning to.
The neutral position for my foot is to rest it next to the pedal which is not really comfortable, so I find I am rest it below the pedal. Both of these are dangerous, because of the delay time to get on the brake.
I inspected the factory stepup and it looks like it cannot be moved down by reclocking it due to some finger that comes off and appears to hit a brake light switch (I think that is what it is).
Has anybody done something to fix this, either moving or replacing the pedal lever? I think it is a cast piece, but regardless it is built to NOT bend, so bending it is out of the question.
Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.

Pull the chrome cover off and take a good look again.....It is adjustable. Requires that you loosen the two nuts on the plunger shaft and the rotate the shaft to the position you like and retighten the nuts. POOF done.

Or add floorboards.
I put Cobra boards on MGM on my 1st trip out West.
Stopped at a Honda shop, they had them hanging on the wall, asked the price, he told me and I said I'll take them. He responded, oh yes, that is installed.
Presto, good deal in my book.
That was about 223K + or - miles ago.

Two things to adjust: the brake lever rest position, as Detn8er said, and tweak the brake light switch adjustment so it not too sensitive, on all the time, or doesn't come on at all.

I TOTALLY agree ,, feel like im on my tip toe getting my size 12 on it in a hurry.. I was going to buy a junkyard one from pinwall on e-bay, cut it in half , and fabricate a angled-extension splice into it, to fit my foot . then re chrome or powder coat . And still have the original one on hand. Its just to short to , I think.

I just doubly checked. this thing does not appear to be adjustable. The mounting points are fixed. There are two 12mm bolts on the main bracket that mount to the frame. Then there are two 10mm bolts which mount the brake master cylinder to fixed holes in the main bracket. (Tried to insert an image/pic of the assembly, but could not figure it out quick, so no image) Let me know what I am doing wrong. -Ed

Let me know what I am doing wrong. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ You're not doing what was suggested; pull the pin on the plunger where the pedal attaches, loosen the nuts on the plunger and turn it in/out to raise or lower the pedal. Might not need to pull the pin if the "U" shaped attachment turns easy enough, it's been a while since I did it so just be aware. After reassembling the system, you'll most likely have to adjust the switch. Don't turn the body up/down, turn the nut. The brake light should come on just before the brakes are activated. If you don't have a shop manual, now is the time.
As for foot/shoe size in re. to size 12....that's the same as mine and I've never had a problem.

OK... so went at it again.
Installed Mark T peg extenders... WOW.. what a difference!! I am 6'4" with a 34" inseam and was really cramped before and am really good now. frees up the feet space also..
While I was installing these, I also found the brake adjustment suggested here. The brake level will adjust through a range of like 3 in at the pedal end. HUGE difference.
Thanks for all the help!!!
