Clunking sound
«

I have this occasional clunking sound coming from underneath the bike. I only seem to notice when the bike is not in a pull or coast...kinda intermediate....little or no throttle. I looked underneath thinking it might be the kickstand bumping the bottom, but it seems ok. Anybody got any ideas?

With your bike in gear (motor off), roll it back and forth. Do you still hear the sound or feel the clunk? If you do, then it is either u-joint or rear wheel dampers.
Do you hear it when going over bumps or smooth roads? If over bumps, it could be rear shock bushings.
Just brainstorming a couple of ideas...giving you things to look for. Hope these help.

Yup, it's the u-joint. You can look to see yourself! Remove the foot brake assembly and pull back the boot. The u-joint is right there.

try applying slight front brakes when you should hear the sound.......if it silences it, most likely its just the floating calipers. Now, you can remove the pads, and try to tighten up the spring plates, so theres less movement of the pads, but they all will make a slight clunk under certain conditions.......like small sharp bumps. If front brakes have no effect, Id agree with the u-joint thing
