No Headlight Problem Found - now ?

I discovered why I have no high or low beam headlight.  Upon disassembling the starter button I discovered the black/red wire had broken off at the solder point on the black plastic piece that has the four metal contact points. 

This a tiny solder point and appears like it would be difficult, if not impossible, to get resoldered and have any assurance it would last.  Anyone have any experience with this?

Should I just buy a new start stop switch assembly and be done with it?  I noted someone mentioned they can found on eBay, but I didn't find anything there.  Best place to get one? 

If I replace the start stop switch assembly, would that be the opportune time to put in a relay?  TIA

You're right that some jobs can be a bitch, especially with no proper tools.

I wouldn't give up so easily and I will always attempt to "fix it first". sometimes the obvious isn't always evident.

I think those switches are not cheap and buying a used one is not the way. I have no knowledge of the e-bay items.

A relay would clip in the circuit somewhere in the harness, not at the switch site so adding a relay is always a "when time allows" deal.

I guess I'm lucky to not have had any problems with electronics on my 2000 I/S. Turning 100k real soon.

$64.75 new at HDL (plus $7.50 handling if you do not order over $200 total).

They usually sell for more than that used from Pinwall because it is packaged with the throttle control and grips.

I went ahead and tried soldering it back together and it affixed just fine.  Did the rest of the switch maintenance as per posted instructions, reassembled the switch and everything works as it should.  Problem solved. 

I may keep my eyes open for a used starter switch assembly just to have a back up, but saw no reason this should be prone to re-failing.
