Front Fork Seals
«
on:

While doing some preventative maintenance on my bike (03 Standard) I noticed a steady stream from my L front fork.
My question to all you mechanical gurus: Is replacing the seals in both front forks too big a project for a Wrench party? I assume the front end has to be torn down to accomplish this. I would like to learn how to do it, but a little supervision from those more experienced than me would be wonderful.
Thanks,
Charles

Dave in Frisco and I did our fork seals at a wrench party so it can be done. The hardest part is getting the special tools needed to disassemble the forks.

It can be done without a total dis-assembly of the forks, I believe there is a how to on the tech board.

You still need the special tools to remove the springs.

I have the tool. When ya need it, somebody that's going to make the wrench party can pick it up beforehand.
I think flyboy has one also, and others in the Texas bunch do as well.

Thanks for the info and the offer to use the spring removal tool Daniel.
Unfortunately I will be out of town on the 6th so I will have to catch the next wrench party. In the meantime I will order all the parts needed and will coordinate to pick up the tools needed.
Thanks again for all the input, the Texas VRCC members are great!!
