A set of Metzler ME88's for $370 - And that doesn't include mounting / balancing . I figured I would get them now while I'm not riding much, also get an oil and filter change + whatever other maintence it need at 27,000 miles. Then in the spring (late April / early may) I'll just need a 10 minute safety inspection ( but I plan on riding to work again before then).

My D/S choice and my Shinko were under $200.00 for both. I've noticed the size I use on my cage has gone up too.  uglystupid2 RIDE SAFE.

Jake Wilson nearly the same price for both tires, $334. Avon Cobras best tire I've found.

Save the other $250 bucks and change the oil, air filter and other stuff yourself.  Also if you just bring the wheels in they wont charge you the extra hour labor to put the rear wheel back on wrong.  Do that yourself too and you know its done right

I don't have the tools, Place, time, and skills to do it. Oil / air filter I can probably handle, but not the wheels. And even then its a time and place issue.

Obviously your front wheel is not stock. Do you have any pics of it?

Now and then a non-rider makes a comment like 'so you ride a motorcycle, that must save lots of money!'

Then I tell them what tires, filters, and other parts cost.  And I mention you're lucky to get 10K or 12K miles from a rear tire.  And, my Valkyries only get gas mileage in the low 30s, and easily dip into the 20s at high speeds.  Heck, even my wife's Civic gets better mileage than that!

I love riding these bikes, but I don't do it for economic reasons.

On the other hand, both my used valks only cost half or less than a decent car, both are more reliable than a decent car,  over a period of years (10+) most decent cars will cost more overall to maintain/insure/register, and I don't call most (or any) cars that get 40mpg decent.

However, it is rough getting 20 bags of groceries home on either of my bikes.  Grin

But yeah, if you want a full size road bike of about any brand it's probably not because it's economical (though I'm sure some guys try to pass this off as gospel with their wives   Roll Eyes)
