Anyone know for sure what the intake runners are made of?  I thought aluminum, but they are weakly magnetic, about like a medium grade of stainless.  And they're relatively heavy, for aluminum.  Can't imagine why Honda would make the from stainless? Reduce heat travel to the carbs?  I know aluminum is slightly magnetic, and I am testing with fairly strong neodymium magnets.  They don't stick to the cheap Home Depot aluminum stock or T6061.

Any idea?

Thanks

Not sure about the base metal, but I think it's an aluminum alloy.  The nickel plating under the chrome plating provides the weak magnetic attraction.

That's brilliant!  I'd forgotten about the nickel plating in the chrome plating process.  Easy enough to verify too.  Thanks!
