The neutral light on my 98 standard is starting to act up. It seems to have a mind of its own. It only works half of the time. I checked the connection under the right side cover by the gas tank. it was fine.
the bike has 106K miles. (barely broke in) My question is, has anyone had to replace the neutral switch, and how difficult is it to replace.

I'd make sure it's not the bulb first.  I believe the neutral switch is a grounding switch, the type has few if any problems. Follow the wiring from the bulb to where the wire plugs into the harness.  More than likely just a poor connection problem.

with one.  I think it was either a connection near the engine or the switch itself in the transmission.
