Since changing my front tire from a Metzger to a Bridgestone, I have had a low speed handlebar shake/shimmy while decelerating down a slight incline like an off ramp.  I recently had installed a new set of Avons and have the same shake/shimmy but less that I had with the Bridegestone.  I never noticed this with the Metzger but that could be just a coincidence.  I have check nothing; what should I check?

Did you put a new rear on? If the rear cups it will make the shimmy you are feeling at low speed and go away when up to higway speed.

New Avons front and rear.  Even with these new Avons I am getting the humm when cornering at speed like I did with worn Dunlaps.

I just went from a worn-out Metzler to a Bridgestone, and everything is great. I can't think what that would be except bad balancing?

What should you check?

Kind of sounds like how my I/S was handling about 9 years ago.  Would get a wobble/shake when decelerating through the 40 mph range.  Had the stearinghead bearing checked...needed an adjustment, tightened and all okay. That's the first thing I would check.

Check your rear shock bushings. Should be dead center when you remove upper bolt. If NOT dead center you have a culprit!  2funny RIDE SAFE.

Tighten up the steering head bearings. they are too loose.
