it's happened 2 times in the last 2 days.  tickedoff
out for a ride, stop for a while and ready to go again and it won't start.
light is on, dash indicators are on too.
kick stand up, won't start in neutral or in gear with the clutch engaged.
put kick stand up and down a couple times in case that was the problem.
even had trouble getting it into neutral a time or two.
hit the start button and ......nothing nada, zilch.
after a few minutes it finally got all the stars in the universe lined up and it worked.
any ideas if this has happened to you

It sounds like it could be your neutral sensor.

Mine has been sticking as of this fall and needs few shifts into 1st to 2nd and then to neutral for it to start up.  I'd suggest starting there as you indicated getting into neutral was an issue.  If this does happen again, try this and see if that helps.

But if it is the neutral switch, it should start with the clutch pulled in?

Doesn't mean the switch isn't just right, and that the described shifting helps with getting it into neutral.

Could be all the above, but I still like the "look at the head light when you push in the start button, it should go off".
