My son, Billy is going under the knife in the morning. He has three vertebra that the disks have moved in his neck and bulged out. He has been losing feeling in his hands and arms. They are going in through his throat and put a flexible plate on his spine to spread it out and put the disks back in the proper place. I know he is apprehensive about it, and his mom and I are worried also. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

Bill,

Prayers and positive thoughts from Viv and I are coming your way. Speedy and complete healing for Billy, and comfort and peace of mind for you and Anna. I have had neck surgery for 3 herniated and three bulging disks in my neck (2004) and it was a huge relief for me. God is good! angel

The surgical processes are fantastic now.
Wish him a speedy recovery.

Thank you for all the wishes and prayers. We are heading to the hospital in a few minutes. The operation is going to be at Morton Plant in Clearwater. As soon as we know anything I will post a note here. Again, thanks to all and god bless.

Well it took a long time, went into the operating room at 12:30, got out at 4:45 then into recovery until a little after 6 pm, then into a room where we were finally able to see him. He is doing well, they bridged 3 vertebrae  and had to reroute a main nerve to a different place about a 1/2 inch from where it was getting pinched by the spine. That was causing the loss of feeling in his left arm. Every thing functions as it should now, no more numbness etc. But he is trussed up, wearing a neck brace that comes down on his chest and back so he cannot move his head at all. Doc says it will be on for a week, then a soft neck brace for a couple weeks after that. He is doing very well, talking, not a lot of pain, but will be tube city for a couple days until all the drains are removed.  In the am he will be getting another MRI and x-rays. Just making sure every thing is in place. Surgeon says he will be completely normal with in a month, only loss well be about 10% of neck movement. I wish to thank every one for the prayers and good wishes, we really appreciate it.

Sorry Bill, just saw this.  Glad it turned out well for your son.  10% less movement, but no pain?  I would take that in a minute.

Thanks for the update.

Thanks for the update Bro.

Sounds like he is on a full recovery except for the 10% loss of neck movement.

Glad it went well for your son Bill. God's speed on his recovery. I have finally had enough back pain and leg numbness myself and finally have an appointment at the Spine Health Institute at Florida Hospital next week. Thanks for the update.
