Hello group! I am building a 1999 Valkrie the hard way, from scratch. I had a trashed 1999 gl 1500 Goldwing and got a 1999 Valkyrie frame. I am using the gl swingarm, rear wheel, rear brake caliper, and engine. That is just about the only parts from the gl that could be used. I have progressed to the point where the wiring is needing to be put in place. I got a Valkyrie harness but my Honda manual does not really show actual placement of components. Pictures are vague or fuzzy. I have also done this to build a 1981 gl 1100 and the wiring just sort of "fell" in place. You know, the right length wire to the correct connector. Times were simpler back in 1981. So, does the bank angle sensor have a bracket or does it just get screwed to something? Which relays can I do without? I think that my wiring harness may be for the Valkyrie with the twin headlight fairing. In other words, can it become less complicated? Has anyone else out there done this? Yes, I have been told that I am insane for doing this project. ANY help will be greatly appreciated!

Here is the IS wiring harness. http://www.bikebandit.com/1999-honda-valkyrie-interstate-gl1500cf/o/m151389#sch307109Match the easy stuff, and tag your wire harness. Work your way to what is left over. Doesn't hurt having the extra relays, you could always wire them into something else, like extra lights, fuse box, etc??

Thanks guys for the great advice! After looking at my wiring harness, I decided to get another harness. This new harness seems to be not so complicated. With your advice and info and a simpler harness, I am on my way. Still have to figure out where the bank angle sensor is mounted.

The bank angle sensor on the Valkyrie is located and attached to the center cover below the seat.

And....on the backside of it where you can't get to it without baby hands and 14" fingers.

Well, that explains a lot! That is one part that I haven't purchased because it was deemed unnecessary to make the bike "go".

In that case, it mounts from the left-right on the bike, if it tips over, it will activate.
I forget if it's round side up or down, but I know the info has been posted.

It has a "this way up" arrow on it. -Mike
