but today I decided to test the Toyota Prius on non ethanol.  I was headed to Ormond Beach so stopped in Palatka at the station across from Corky Bells and filled up the tank.  It was about 3/4 empty so the data is skewed somewhat.  Mike you know the station.  This trip was from Palatka to Ormond Beach and back to Worthington Springs.  About 175 miles if I remember correctly.  Normally the built in computer readout of MPG will run from 47 to 49 MPG.  The MPG when I got back home was 56.4.
But the non ethanol gasoline cost is around $.50 per gallon more.  Might have been more than that actually.  So it is not cheaper to run it but in my opinion we are burning up our food to make ethanol and it is less efficient than just plain old gasoline.
I know that John Schmidt has mentioned this in the past.  Anyone else made a similar test?

My tourer gets about 3 more miles per gallon on non ethanol, have not tried the truck yet, but a 40 gallon tank puts a crimp in my mad money.

The bikes and cars I have tested with seem to always get 4 to 7 percent better mileage with pure gas.

I have looked online for any stations selling pure gas between Brooksville and Zephyrhills and when I look on Google maps it is a ghost town. Does anyone know of real live pump stations in this area selling pure gas??

Terry that station also recently went from 89 oct non eth, to 87 oct non eth is probably what you got today, which is better for us having engines timed for the 87 octane, and I think the price went lower some. I have not tried in in my truck yet either but I know the Valks Love it.

Look for WAWA stations, they sell marine gas. It is ethanol free, I have 3 with in 2 to 3 miles from my place and all of them carry it.

I don't know if anyone knows this trick or not, and I have not tried it myself. Take a five gal. gas can, find a way to fix about a foot and a half of clear plastic tube on the spout. Then put a spigot on the end of that. Put two cups of water in the tank, then fill with gas. Find a way to suspend the tank upside down.let it sit overnight, and in the morning you will have three layers in the plastic tube. The bottom layer will be water, and the middel layer will be your ethenol. Just open the spigot, and drain out the junk.

This Ethanol Thing Is Just An Experiment To See How We Cam Make Fuel Injected Vehicles Drink Contaminated Corn  And Cane Syrup And Put All Of The Carbureted Vehicles In A Garage, Museum , Or Junk Yard . Just My Two Cents Worth, Now It's Time For A Ride !

The problem with removing the ethanol (even if we realistically could) you would have terrible gas.  They calculate the octane WITH ethanol so its really substandard gas that's "upgraded" with ethanol to meet the advertised rating

There is a Pure station, about 5mi. South of Inverness, on CR 581.
I have been buying gas there since 1988.  They have had non ethanol fuel there for several years now. Only use it for the boat, BTW.    Beautiful day and great ride today. Rode to Perry for lunch, just shy of 300 mi.
