While looking through the motorcycle section of the " Instructables" website / app last night, I came across a project someone made fabricating hand shields for his bike. He had managed to put together a decent looking and obviously effective piece of equipment by forming some lexan with a heat gun and attaching it to a couple of aluminum brackets. It looked ok - I wouldn't mind it being on my bike for the short time needed.

I have a set of Lexan / polycarbonate auto replacement insert mirrors in my junk cabinet which didn't fit my vehicle so I kept them thinking they might be useful for something someday. They cost +/- $4.00 each.
My question is what are the pros and cons of making a set of these shields from these mirrors, shiny side facing forward? Would they make you more visable or would they blind oncoming motorists? How much worse than chrome reflections? Night v. day? Concave v. convex?
Does this idea have any merit or is it merely silly?
I do intend to make a set of the handsheilds. They go on & come off quickly and can be made to look acceptable.
Those of you who like shop work may well enjoy the Instructables website or app.
