Jan has not been my month, started with me screwing my back up, then my son under going surgery. Then my house decided it was time to work on it, had to replace the drain field. Got that done, now cutting a trench through the concrete slab in the house to run new sewer lines under it. The old cast iron pipes started coming apart inside. I sure hope next month is better. Cripes I just need to get out and ride.

I'm with you Bill.

Just pulled some back muscles (or moved around some bulging disks) getting out of my (broken but still serviceable) recliner.  A real manly injury.

It's bad enough the old body is letting us down, but it just seems unfair the old house is going right along with it.

The cast iron pipe from my kitchen sink drain thru my (cracked) slab has moved/bent (or had tree roots thru it) for years, and been power routed out a number of times, but if it ever fails, I have to jack hammer the slab/floor, or run PVC thru the walls.

Bill, if I know you your cutting that trench yourself with your back injury. I'm available this weekend if you need help. It could be a win/win for me. Hard labor can help me with my mid section reduction program cooldude

I am not doing most of it, we hired a guy from our church that is doing most of the labor. Renting a concrete saw tomorrow, and cutting a 1 x 10 foot trench in the floor to replace the pipe, then re-pouring the slab. Thank you for the offer Doug. I will be glad when this mess is done with.

Yup its a mess. We went through it last month, but not as bad. Ours was outside and accessible. Roots had crushed the clay pipe where it connects to the city sewer system. Used a rubber boot  to connect and replaced with PVC. We dodged a bullet. It was just passed the pool deck (concrete) still an unexpected pain in the butt. Todd and Pennie have gone through this recently too.
Best of luck Bill. Hope it goes well.

I wish I could, most of my problems are where it comes up out of the ground and branches out. The pipes are peeling inside, cast is separating internally so only option is to replace it. At least  when I finish every thing will be pvc. But sadly most is under the slab, so have to dig it out no matter what I do.

Sorry you have been having such a lousy month Bill.
Hopefully by the time the repairs are made you will be good enough physically to ride.

Appreciate the offer, but I have a handle on it. Most is dug up, just have to cut the slab for 10 ft. Renting a concrete saw Friday to do the cutting, then I can get the pipes laid and cover it up.

Well finally finished running all the plumbing. replaced every thing under the house, even had to remove toilets and put new flange connections in the floor. I now have a fully functioning system. Now just have to put all the dirt back, and pour some concrete. Finally be finished this week. Then have to rework the driveway where we removed the pavers for the drain field. Sure be glad when it is finished.

That looks like a genuine PITA.

Nice job, that should last you a while Bill. I'll bet you have concrete dust everywhere.
