Ok.. so did manage to go on a little ride today, nice but too cool for the wife to make it out to Alachua.. Anyways, just got back home and noticed I have oil on the top of the left cyl bank, i have noticed this before and figured it was residue from before i changed the intake o-rings, but now its actually pooling oil a little in the low spots, i cant tell if the o-rings are leaking, it almost look like it might be coming from the head gasket, the oil is all along the top of the back, not just around a particular intake. anyone experience this before?

Maybe the drool tube is disconnected from the airbox.

Or hasn't been drained since dirt was invented. It will back up into the intake system, often causing smoke on one bank...usually the right side as I recall. I'd check that, then clean the mess and check the intakes for loose bolts, new o-rings can leak if the bolts work loose.

What they said.  Maybe a clamp came off underneath the tank.

That Drool Tube That Everyone Is Referring To, Is the Rubber Hose That Hooks To The Bottom Of The Air Box And Hangs Down At The Right Rear Side Of The Engine, It Also Has A Plug In It That Needs To Be Removed To Drain The Hose. It Is One Of Those Things That I Do When I Change The Oil.

Hi folks..
ok finally got to checking this out further, the drool tube is fine(i do stay on top of this) none of the orings are leaking. now its getting interesting, it appears that the oil is coming from above??, the bottoms of the front and middle carbs have oil on them as if its coming from above them and seeping down onto the top of the head, the carb drain hoses also are covered in oil, its not the head gasket either.. i cant think of why or how oil comes from above the carb bank? I took off the middle intake to gain more room but so far haven't located the source..  the rate of leak seems slow and more pronounced after riding, it has to be while while running and under pressure, it doesn't seem to continue to leak just sitting cold. to be continued...
read pretty much every post on here related to oil leaks, finding out that Valks rarely or don't leak oil, so great I get the fun ones.  so..

The drool tube is connected at the tank.
The shifter seal is not leaking.
The forks seals are not leaking.
No oil from the alt area.
oil filler and dip stick caps are tight and not leaking, no oil at all on anything on the right side.
i wish i had success in posting pics, they say it all

The drool tube is NOT connected to the fuel tank.  it actually is connected to a collector box under the air box and finishes on the right side near the riders foot pegs with the carb train tube.

If you crankcase is overfilled that could possibly cause more oil than usual to be vented up through the airbox and maybe even some is bypassing the drool tube altogether and leaking on top of the motor.

Thanks and yes your right about the drool tube, my bad, I meant what you said.
So, i removed all intakes on that side, checked orings and cleaned it up all real good, I noticed on one of the intakes, that left over, vacuum capped fitting (from desmog) was loose, so i removed of all those pesky intake vacuum capped fittings and replaced them with a allen head screw (M5-.80x10 works perfect) now those ugly fitting are gone and 6 less vacuum caps/leaks to worry about and looks alot cleaner. Started her back up, warmed it up and there were 2 dime sized pools, of what looked like oil, now get this.. as she idling, i am watching and I see a drip and then another but it isn't oil, its fuel!  where it pools its dark like oil but its not oil, its as when the fuel is traveling it cleans residue oil and grime or whatever and turns dark, I feel like a fool but happy at the same time that its not an oil leak. I bet I have a fuel rail on that side leaking or something like that.. man i feel stupid..

ok, now I have read up alittle on fuel rail leaks.. now i am back to being bummed, I am not comfortable with carb work.. . Oh Lord can some one fix my gurl?!!

You can get a kit from Redeye tech that has all the o-rings etc for the fuel rails.
