If I take apart the starter button will it solve a problem I'm having with an intermittent headlight? It seams if I engage the starter button a few times when the headlight isn't working I can get it to come on.  tickedoff

In the shoptalk section, you'll find instructions on how to clean the starter button contacts.

Yes, the start button is integrated in headlight circuit.  When you press the starter button, it disconnects the headlight to keep load off the system (known as "off while cranking.")

As suggested, clean the starter switch contacts.

You should also install a relay in the headlight circuit to protect the starter switch from overheating.  Use Rattlebar's "Start Switch Safeguard" shown on this page: http://www.rattlebars.com/valkfaq/circuits.html or use this diagram: http://www.barnettdh.com/Valkfiles/HLDLdualrelayST.pdf and disregard the driving lights side of things (unless you've got driving lights or are going to add them.)

The IS model already is relay driven.

Sorry.  Failed to notice it was an Interstate.

The rest still applies.

Except for adding a relay to the IS.

If non-OEM driving lights will be added to an IS: http://www.barnettdh.com/Valkfiles/DLrelayIS.pdf
