Hey All,

My folks are retiring, and are going to live in Tennessee in the winter, and put here in MN along Lake Superior in the summer.  I have my Valk down in TN right now, but they asked if I wanted to put a bike up at the cabin (their summer place).  We have a little trouble with space at the moment, and considering a ST1300 as a possible bike, or getting myself another Valkyrie, possibly a tourer this time.  Riding two up, the passenger needs to be as comfy as I do...Hence the Wing at home.

What I am wondering is, what is the overall width of the Valk's with OEM saddlebags on them?  Need to see if it will fit in my "parking" spot.  Smiley

Thanks for any help!

My 98 Tourer is on a lift I sat a square on the floor and measured 32 inches.

It is fast black if it matters Smiley

Wouldn't you need the width from the bike in an upright position, right hand side, to on the side stand, and the left most protrusion, as you measured width?

For some reason, I thought the rear end was the widest part, but now you got me wondering if there is a wider part of the bike.  I figure it would always be stored on a lift during the winter.  Summer time, the bikes get the garage where a car would normally be.

The handlebars and mirrors are wider than the saddlebags on my Tourer.

The saddlebags just fit between the rails of my auto lift, but the handlebars don't.

I don't know the answer for a std/tourer, but are you asking if it will fit thru a std 36" exterior doorway?

Someone may have tried that.

No, I have a 9' wide door to go through, but a much smaller area to actually put the bike.  Still undecided as to what type of bike I really want up there.

I know my IS has a little trouble going through a door down in TN that is a little bigger than 36"..but don't recall exact measurements.  Have to wiggle the handlebars and push a bit to clear the fairing, then it's all good.  Sadly, I don't know why I didn't think of that prior to me posting the question.   uglystupid2

Yes, on an interstate, the fairing is the widest point (and I don't think it goes thru a std 36" doorway, even if you pull the storm and door, without some real finagling).

I love my valks, but if I had to get one thru a doorway into a hallway for storage, I'd be looking at a narrower, lighter sport tourer, or maybe even a KLR dual sport.

But I don't have a back seater (and don't want one).

The way I got my old 750-4 with full Vetter fairing thru my door, was at 15mph, but it was hard on the paint.  Grin

I do like the back seater, she adds a lot to a ride.  So, we have to make her comfy so she wants to go!

Mine was so close going into my motel room at Cheaha State Park in Alabama . It did fit in my motel room at Linville, North Carolina.

I don't know about smaller mom and pop places, but I think many motel rooms have larger than standard residential "36 exterior doors.
