Had some vibration when letting off the gas. This was something I hadn't felt before.
Took rear wheel and final drive assembly apart, All the splines looked good except for the drive shaft.
Teeth were worn on drive shaft going into final assembly only, which I thought was unusual.
Any one have this experience and should I replace the  whole assembly or only drive shaft?
And anybody Have a cost estimate on final assembly, parts only.
Thanks in advance. Pat

This is most likely where you will find most of your looseness or play.

Don't know exactly which end you are talking about but here is a couple of links with prices from HDL.
If you replace #2 you should also replace #13.

Links didn't work to good but gets you in the ball park.
You need to look at SWING ARM and FINAL DRIVEN GEAR.
Hope this helps.

Teeth were worn on drive shaft going into final assembly only, which I thought was unusual.

If the teeth are worn on the pinion gear, the drive shaft and pinion cup should be replaced at the same time.

When mine went out I could pick up the flutter when backing off the power with the clutch engaged or sometimes when holding the throttle at a neutral position.  I believe I was a little over ninety thousand miles at the time.

Shaft and coupler are about a 100 bucks from HDL. I 've replaced two of these once on my bike and once for a fellow rider. Easy to do and I check mine everytime I take the rear down for service. Mine strpped out about 25 miles from home, his died about 230 miles from home.
