I will have to arrange either a Mon./Tues off work or a Wed./Thurs.Fri. and finding a hotel accepting my points in what ever area we decide on, (IHG or Choice Privileges),  Say Maggie Valley or back to Asheville would work. Still works out to be 2 days of travel 2 or 3 days of riding for me.

Well, actually yes, there has been. I contacted the place we had talked about last year, Smoky Falls Lodge, http://smokyfallslodge.com , and they were willing to host us once again. They are offering us 10% off their room rates. The place is pretty nice and located right in the middle of downtown Maggie Valley.  I told them we would most likely be looking at arriving on Sunday, May 31 and probably checking out on Friday, June 5. This misses the Memorial Day weekend and their Spring Bike Rally but whatever dates y'all want to go is fine by me honestly. Summer season kicks in up there pretty soon thereafter and it gets pretty nuts up there then. I had told them we would probably need 8-10 rooms, maybe more. They had lots of rooms available at that time, which was a few weeks ago.  So let me know what you guys think about that and I will call and block some rooms for us.

Right now this fits nicely in our calendar.
This sounds like it's a go if those dates end up being the final time slot.

Since walking with Jack up a hill seems OK by me, I'm going to give fixing that post a shot.

Thanks for asking Jack. I talked to Lydia, the owner, today to go ahead and block some rooms for us. They have blocked off 8 rooms in the one and two story buildings to the left of the lobby, next to the covered bike parking area. That seemed to be enough for our group.... I think. There are more rooms available in the Rock building to the right of the lobby area if necessary. I asked her to put all of our rooms in the same area. When you speak to them to make a reservation, tell them you are with the "Florida Valkyrie Riders". Their cancellation policy is 2 weeks before but she said they are flexible on that. She will hold the rooms for us for about a month so we can't dilly-dally too long. We will also have to be checked out on Friday the 5th due to the entire lodge being rented out starting on that Friday. The prices for the rooms are $99. for the $119. and $79 for the $99. Pretty good discount I thought, about 20%.  In case you need the link again here it is: http://smokyfallslodge.com/index.html . Should be a great time up there and some nice riding!

Made my reservation today too. She said she would call me if those 8 rooms were almost gone. They would most likely go to the other building but it's just across the parking lot.

No "talking into it" needed, but as you know I can't leave Rita unattended. Unless one of her kids happen to take it upon themselves to help out with their mother, I don't get a break. Last year the only way I got to attend InZane was because my daughter Toni let it be known that if needed, she'd fly down from Green Bay and take care of their mother. That shows how much she cares for Rita, as all my girls do. Suddenly I had some help. Strange how that happens!  Wink

That's great Jack, remember Jeff from the last J/S ride when we met at SR 27.  That's that group that rides your old bikes right??  Grin Did they happen to mention how many of the rooms we blocked off were still available? I have gotten PM's from a couple of folks who live up that way who may want to join us, Jess from Va mentioned it too.

They were not on that particular ride but they are a great couple of friends, I think you will like them when you meet them  cooldude

As far as the rooms, he did not mention anything about the amount of rooms left.
My guess is that more rooms will need to be blocked, from what I see, there are 7 room reservations and  there are more riders that are on the fence about the ride that will soon know if they will be joining us plus the PM's you have got from the folks that live up that way.

I am thinking we will probably end up around the neighborhood of 12 rooms if not more.

Thanks for all you do Jeff  cooldude
