Jess from Va mentioned it too.

OK, I was kinda waiting for an invite to my earlier post (since it is a FL crowd). I took this as an invite.  Smiley

Just registered.  Told I was the last one together with the main/original group of rooms.  Told there are other rooms still blocked, on the other side (at the cheaper $79).

I have two queens.  I hope they don't snore or have excessive flatulence.

Looking forward to meeting you guys.  And leaving the white Winter outside my windows behind.

Nice combat ride down 81; 506mi, 8hrs.

Then you took it correctly Jess. We would be honored to have you join us. We would actually welcome any one who wants to ride up, down or over to Maggie. We have talked about this Florida Group trip for a long time. Looks like the stars are in alignment for us this year!! Look forward to meeting you too! The ride down I-81 is one of my favorites for an interstate.

81 can be a blast or a PITA.

Nice scenery, nice whoops up and down, and it can move.

But sometimes the trucks own both lanes, slowing way down up every hill, forever.  And with that many trucks, you really have to watch for exploding gators (tires) and big remnants in the road.  And the VA State Troopers probably earn a large percentage of the entire State Police budget on 81.  And a lot of the small towns along the route will have a local LE staking out their own exit for a share of the prize money.

The cops love to sit just over the rise of long steep uphills.  You are so tired of following trucks slowing 15-20mph up big hills, you finally get an opening and launch big-time with a big smile, up and over the hill, right into lidar-radar standing in the median.  Do stupid stuff, earn stupid prizes.  Grin

Even with a 70mph limit, in VA at 80 and up, they have the option of taking you from the scene in cuffs.  Not that it happens often, but it needs to be kept in mind.

5-7 over constant is a good practice.

The more the merrier I say!! Looking forward to meeting some new folks. I'm going to call them Monday and see if they can block some more rooms for us. I think she may have done it already as I told her originally that we may need as many as 12 or more.

Thanks Casey, just got confirmation from Cathy and they do have reservations as well, so one more reservation added.
That should take care of the first group of 8 rooms that were blocked for us

Here is the list of the reservations so far:

1. Jeff Parker
2. Jack
3. Pappy and Lesa
4. Roger and Jeff McKay
5. Mike and Liz ( staying nearby )
6. James
7. Jeff and Erlene
8. Jess from VA
9. Mike and Cathy

Jeff, you might want to give the hotel a ring to see where we stand with blocking additional rooms.

Thanks Jeff

Never mind, you beat me to it as I was typing this post  Grin

cooldude Thanks Jeff for your behind the scenes, make n' it happen work on this gathering!
I will have a guest rider coming up with me to Maggie Valley. A lifelong friend and a part of my family, "Brother Ed",  he rides a Fat Boy. We are leaving Tampa Sat. May 30th at 8:00 am, taking I75 to Valdosta and secondary roads up and overnighting along the way. Leave Maggie Valley Wednesday June 3, heading west to Spearfish, SD for Inzane and other parts and destinations. As Gil and I were discussing, Maggie Valley might be a good waypoint for others heading west from the east and New England area; something to think about.
Looking forward to this years journeys, doing a little riding, and as always a few more great times with our Florida family and other members. Ride safe, see ya down the road.

I would suggest for you to get a room and post that you are looking for a roommate, that way you will secure a room, you can always cancel it if you don't need it.

Well, I was just reminded that I want to take a trip north to Wisconsin later this summer. Want to spend a few days with my two daughters so a trip to NC is sorta out of the question.

Getting someone to come stay with Rita once will be a task, let alone getting someone twice in one year. I'm reminded of one of Elvis's old songs: Lord, this time you gave me a mountain. She's dropped 4 lbs. in the last month, from 102 fully dressed to 97.5. No strength, no endurance, no appetite. If you recall the WWII prison camps and the skin on bone appearance of the people in there, now you have an idea.

Wish you could make it John. Spending some time with your daughters, and your grand kids, will be wonderful for you. I am familiar with the "mountain" you speak of too. I definitely noticed a difference in her last time I was over there. God bless you both. See you soon.
