Was getting gas yesterday. A guy getting gas in the next stall comes walking up and asked about the Valk. Wanted to know if it was a 3 cylinder. He was on the opposite island. I told him no.....3 more cylinders were on the other side of the bike. He was a rider but had not ridden in a few years. He was really taken by the Valk. We kinda had the same reaction when he asked if it was still made. I told him no they dont make it anymore. I did not have any change so I asked him if he had a nickle. Showed him the nickle test. He absolutely could not believe it. He called his wife over to see it. LOL I think this was the best reaction I have EVER gotten from showing someone the nickel trick. He was completely amazed at it. God I LOVE this bike!!!!

I showed that to an old Harley buddy of mine. He had a '76 Shovel. He said he could do that too but he used a dollar bill and the grease held it down.

At the Old Shawneetown Street Rally last month I had a guy come up, dragging a buddy behind along just to show him the nickel trick..... on my Valk.
I had never seen it before either LOL

Showed it to a few buds of mine and they told me I could make $$$$ money with this. No 'hog' rider is going to believe thats possible. It also works well with a penny and of course thats even thinner. Or you can give a slow and steady twist of the throtle and get about 5K rpms before the nickel will fall. I have only been on here and had my Valk about a month but I assumed every body that owned one knew about this..... I asked a guy at a Honda shop about it on my way back from buying my bike and he said that if you can't do the nickel trick... there is probably something wrong.

Yeah, I always keep a nickel in my pocket when I go riding. And in case I forget one, I keep a couple in my saddlebags. Sometimes I do the n/t when I'm the only one watching!!

On our trip to Canada last weekend I had several inquires about the valk. On guy at the gas station before getting on the bridge in Detriot ask me what kind of engine that was with three cylinders. He only saw the right side. I told him there were three more on the other side. He was amazed. When we were in Niagara Falls we had breakfast at a IHOP. We had parked the bikes next to the sidewalk in front of the resturant. We were seated next to the window. We watched many people stop and look at them. Some were pointing at different things on them. Coming back we were in Napolean OH at a truck stop when a truck driver came up and talked to us. I did the nickle trick for him. He could not beleve it would just stand there. I have done that trick many time over the years. Never fails to get a WOW. I never thought about betting people to do it. Might be an idea huh. I have come to a conclusion, if you don't like attention you should not ride a Valkyrie that is for sure..

I have to say that is one thing I was not prepared for when I got the Valk, the ATTENTION. Every other time I ride I get the "nice bike!" from the guy in the next car, or someone will walk up when I'm getting gas and strike up a conversation, or even a pedestrian waiting at a crosswalk will say something like "wow" or "nice ride", etc. as I go by. It's also fun seeing folks walk by while I'm inside the store paying for gas or coffee and watching them hesitate and check it out. I remember when I wanted to get a bike and looking at nice Goldwings or Electraglides or Boulevards and wondering "what would it be like to own one of those, and say yeah, that's mine" Now I know.

Still fun to get attention on this bike after all these miles. Even dirty these bikes turn heads. I really should wash the PA off the bike sometime.

funny....i just came back from lunch...and was going to post about this VERY subject. on the way over to the OTHER base (i work on Gunter...accross town is Maxwell...both AF bases)....as i go thru the gate...the gate guard says "wow, what kind of bike, what kind of engine....etc. 12 years old? 102k miles? you gotta be kidding me....gorgeous...etc." Then, at the restaurant "wow, what a nice ride....etc." Then i ride back over to Gunter where i work...and...gate guard there "Honda? Do those hold up as good as a Harley?" BETTER i tell him....12 years old...102k miles...etc. He says "12 years! Wow, looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor. Gorgeous...etc." three people....at three different places....just during lunch! Yes, i STILL love THIS bike. I love my Rune too (and YES, it does get EVEN MORE of the "wow affect"...as you would imagine!).....but i love this Valk VERY, VERY much..........still............after 12 plus years and counting!
