Has anyone here ever had a Pingle manual petcock leak or know of anyone who has?  I was at the shop I frequent getting some info on rebuilding my carbs and I was talking to the new mechanic there and he told me I needed to change my petcock too, because it was probably leaking.  I told him I had a Pingle manual petcock so it shouldn't leak.  He told me yes, Pingle manual petcocks leak too, just like the OEM, so I needed to buy a new one.  Anyone ever heard of such a thing???

Just like anything, there can be problems that arise with age and use.

Pingel offers rebuild kit which is, I think, some 'O' rings.

I've had mine for at least ten years with absolutely no problems.

I use non-ethanol gasoline exclusively.

I have used a ton of ethanol gas since getting a manual pingel.  No leaks.  Now there is a very likely culprit.  If you used the OE fuel line that used to be connected to the OE valve, well then the opening of the fuel line was way to large to fit tightly on the nipple of the Pingel.  I used a tiny screw type hose clamp and after a few months it started to leak a little.  To correct it I cut a very small amount of the fuel line off so there was a cleaner edge and carefully tightened the clamp so it was on very securely but not too tight as to damage the fuel line again.  Since then golden!

Yes. I had the manual Pingel for several years. At some point it developed a leak. Didn't like the idea of gas dripping on the engine. Pingel said send it back along with 15-20 bucks (can't remember exactly). They repaired it and sent it back. When I got it back it looked like a new one. sheets

I've found that this type of miniature hose clamp works great at the petcock and anywhere in the fuel system. Once positioned on a fuel line they don't have to be loosened. Simply pull or push the fuel line and the clamp expands to get it over the bump. Push it back on to reinstall. They come in lots of sizes and I sure wish they were easier to find at the local auto parts store. JetsRus.com has a bunch of sizes.

He didn't mean a leak onto the engine.  He meant a leak through the valve when it was turned off.

Pingle's site is a bit confusing. Does anyone have the Pingle part number for the full manual replacement petcock that will fit our bikes? How hard is it to reach the reserve switch when the fuel runs down?

I don't have the part # for the Pingel.    I put mine on like 8 or 9 years ago.

Never had a problem with it.

Reach the reserve switch, reach under about 3" further and give it a turn.

I have the 1311-CH on mine. I debated the aluminum finish since it is tucked under the tank and almost invisible. It is a bit more of a reach but no problem to find while on the road and the Lady starts to sputter. I also have a electric solenoid on the girl in case I forget to shut the Pingle off.

Ditto for me. I run the 1311-CH, it will fit right on your tank fitting.

The website also lists a 1311-CHV which is the same valve but it has a vacumn valve. It's expensive and I couldn't figure out if it needed a tank x-over or not.
