Beautiful east Tennessee ( GOD'S Country )

« on: August 23, 2009, 07:20:48 AM »

Took off alittle after 7:00 a.m. and got home at 11:15 p.m. what a ride . Hooked up with Greg , Razor and bsnicely for breakfest in Pigeon Forge , Tennessee yesterday morning. Razor peeled off just passed Gatlinburg and Greg made it to Frankin, North Carolina before turning and headin' home. That left Brian and I to just dig on the awesome roads and beautiful scenic views of the Tennessee and North Carolina mountains.Took this shot as I pulled out of the garage yesterday morning ...I took it as this is gonna be a great day for motorcycling  cooldude

Some of you may remember me posting a big a$$ rattler last year on Wayah Road in NC . It was alittle bigger than this one and was still moving when we rode upon it.Well this one still had some moves also but was in bad shape as you can see . Greg pulled the buttons off same as he did on the one last year. This area ( Wayah Road ) must have a nest of these monsters cause this one was maybe a 1/4 mile from the one last year.

Well it took them long enough but Dry Falls is now open again with a new parking lot and observation deck. I counted 24 parking spots with 4 of those for the handicapped. Picture's are the new parking lot and observation deck.

Bridal Veil Falls on the way up I thought more water would be coming over with the decent rainfall we've had this year. It's still pretty cool to ride your bike under a waterfall  Wink

When we hit the highest point it was like it turned winter and a few minutes after I took these shots the clouds swallowed us. Brian said " Let's go Joe before it starts snowing "  Smiley  We lucked out all day and stayed dry until we came across The Great Smoky Mountains in the dark and it started raining   Sad   The years are catching up to me cause when we would meet a car the headlights would blind me with the rain on the windshield but after we made it into Gatlinburg I was thinking ...What a RUSH that was  Smiley

A big a$$ boulder fell from the mountain and blocked the road it just took them forever to remove it.

The Fall Color Ride is Oct.16-17-18 out of Robbinsville, NC you will see all these and more on this ride . I used yesterday as a scouting trip and with the help from my friend Normandog a local this years Fall Color Ride should be one of the best ever with some awesome backroad twisties on roads less traveled.

My sister and some others will be riding with me......hence I had probaly better ride like I have some sense instead of my usually slap happy style.   Keep dinner in mind ...maybe we can meet u somewhere.

Great pictures!

I volunteered to take on-call for a coworker on Friday so she could go fetch her mama from
Atlanta on Saturday... Carolyn was gone with her horse riding buddies... instead of riding to
waterfalls with Joe and Bsnicely, I whiled away the day putting Linux on a cra**y old laptop
(easy) and then making it's wireless card work (hard)...

Thanks for the invite Joe but unfortunately I can't make it.  I have a PET scan scheduled for Sept. 18.

This is the second ride washed out dealing with this stuff....oh well.

Ride safe and I will see you in Robbinsville in October....if not sooner.
