Spring is right around the corner. I just bought my Valk at the beginning of winter and wanted to know if anyone could recommend a decent mechanic that works on Valkyries in my area. I want to get it serviced from top to bottom.
Thanks
JD

Far too many horror stories involving dealers. There are a few good ones BUT I know not where in your area. T-bird or SmokinJoe should/need to chime in. If you KNOW which end of a wrench to grab these things ain't THAT hard to work on. RIDE SAFE.

I work on mine myself, if I run into something I'm not sure of, I usually check my service manual
(you can down load it here:http://www.valkyrienorway.com/download.html
and do a search on this board...I think just about everything has been covered on this tech board.
If you just don't have time to do the work yourself, there are some very good members in the Middle TN area that could help you out. You need to plan on coming to Smokin'Joe's Dam ride in your area at the end of this month, he will be posting more info on it soon on the general board.

JD,

I cannot recommend any shop mechanics.

The maintenance on these girls is fairly easy and this club has an invaluable amount of information and help.  As others have stated, probably best to learn how to maintain it yourself.

I am 10 miles north of Cookeville.  That is roughly 90 miles from you.  I would be happy to go over your bike maintenance with you if you would like.

I'm 38 miles out of Nashville on the west side. I work in Nashville at the VA Medical Center. PM me and I will give you my phone number. Will be glad to meet you and help if I can.

I do all my own work too, and would be happy to assist if I can. You won't find too many shops here in Mid-TN with much experience on our girls, so the more you can do yourself the better you'll be. They're really not that hard to work on, especially the routine stuff. I'm in the Fairview/Fernvale area if that helps.

That's a fine looking Valk, btw!

Thanks guys. Just had surgery on my back today so this is on hold for now. I will defiantly be calling on you guys when the time comes. Things I would like to do is flush the radiator, change the oil and plugs and clean the carbs

Welcome JD to the wonderful world of the DRAGON. Good looking bike you have there.
Like everyone says the Valk is not that hard to do the maintenance on.
There is a fellow down around Thompson Station off of I 840 (in that area I can't remember where exactly) that works on nothing but Goldwings and I think he also does Valkyries (pretty sure he does). I have talked to him about putting on a set of tires and his price was a little better than my local dealer (Sloans in Murfreesboro). He's known for doing really good work. All my Goldwing friends I ride with wants no one but him to work on their bikes. He usually stays booked up but if you can time it right you might not have to wait too long. The closer to riding season the busier he gets.
His name is Eric (they call him Scubby). I don't like putting his phone number on the forum without asking him but if you want to send me a PM with your email address I'll send you his number and you can give him a call.

i live in the Boro and would be happy to give you a hand in doing all maintenance yourself. that's what I do, nobody touches my baby but me. (kinda like my wife) --the valk is a very easy machine to learn on. I actually live out by the racetrack so im 30 min from Nashville. let me know if I could help. God bless
