Interesting times at the Vermin Club these days. Our new leadership is off to a rocky start. The Webmaster is pissed off and pulled the plug on the Vermin Club BB, but he did link you here, which was a good move. The Club Treasurer is pissed off and after years of service to the Club resigned his position. A rocky start indeed.

So now what, is this the end of the Vermin Club? We are down to only 8 or 9 paying members. Maybe the beginning of the end? Or is this the end of the beginning of a new club, new website, maybe new name? Time will tell.

The Vermin Club has been around for a long time, I'm not sure when it actually started, I think when the bikes first came out, 1997 or 98. I didn't join until 2009. The founding members are no longer active, there are no rules, we can take the Club in any direction we want. Or we can put the Vermin Club to rest and start fresh with a new name and website. It's up to the current leadership.

For now, breakfast is still the second Saturday of the month at Gator's, see you there.

Gezzz Redline, you didn't tell me that leading the VERMIN would be like herding feral cats!! crazy2

I think we got off to a good start with ambitious ride plans for the year.  We had two new members who were enthusiastic about the club.  It wasn't till we started talking about tweaking the website that things went south fast.  I'm thankful that our webmaster at least provided a link to the VRCC section.

Where to go from here?  I personally think the VERMIN has the potential to move forward and grow in a positive manner.  It's up to the membership to decide what we want to do and hopefully we can have a conversation at the next meeting as to where to go from here.  I will say this, there are some deep seated resentments that exist in the club right now.  tickedoff These resentments are like a cancer and if allow to flourish, will destroy the club.  No amount of leadership will be able to overcome this kind of problem.  It's time to hit the reset button and take a deep breath.  Hopefully we can work towards a common solution.

LOL... If being "Vermin" needs explanation, there's no understanding it. Remembering what "was", is "more gooder" than enduring the next attempt at redefining and remaking it.  Paying an annual due, sewing a patch on, and meeting for breakfast once a month isn't the definition.

You are, you hope to be (while wearing out tires), or you aren't.

I am really sorry to hear this. I thought everyone seemed friendly and was on the same page, I guess they withheld their feelings. If there is going to be a Valkyrie group in the greater Puget Sound area then it will have to start here on the VRCC bb. I will attend the breakfast meetings and see where we go from here but I guess this is our only comms at this point and it is too bad that the entire Valk community is hearing about it.

Hmmm.... someone's pissed off a web master? I'd suspect the Vermin are simply renting bandwidth.  If I were a paid member (in good standing), I'd be asking the web master if the bill is being paid (now that the phone's dead, so to speak).  Then I'd table a motion to change tactics during "talks"... if having an active web site and BB were a priority to me.

Someone's pissed off the Secretary/Treasurer too?  You know how tough it is to find good help (dependable, honest, competent, who work for FREE) these days?

Makes an ol' 'Dog begin to wonder if a feral cat is lifting his tail and spraying (marking territory)?  Well, "pissed off" wasn't my analogy.  And no self-respecting dog seeks out the company of a cat (feral, or otherwise).  Redline, we can share a fire hydrant any day. LOL

My suggestion (to an aspiring empire constructor) would be to build themselves something new, with the foundation made of their own efforts and build what they want.  "Vermin is, what Vermin does"  (to paraphrase the words of famous shrimper).

With our BB down, I thought it was important to post something here, to let Vermin members know what was happening. I suppose, since we're posting in front of God and everyone, I could have, maybe, not aired so much of our laundry, been more PC..... but that's not my style.

Just to be clear, the Treasurer may be pissed/angry/annoyed/whatever. I haven't heard back from him directly so I can't speak for him, but the Secretary is only frustrated that a simple request to be able to update the website has turned into a "we need to build a new website."

I don't know about the politics. Don't really care about the politics. I hope that we can all get over this and be friends again and get the club back online.

The website going down was a decision by one person. A person that was acting as an agent of the club (a respected and maybe less appreciated agent, but an agent none the less.) The rest of the leadership attempted to push the pause button on this, reset expectations, and move forward in a way to keep the website running.

In my eyes, this isn't the club dissolving, this is "the website went down and we don't know exactly when we can bring it back up or what it'll look like."  I'm working on that and invite our former webmaster to help bring this back online. It will happen with or without him, but it will happen.

Some improvements I plan to implement will be a second, and in my opinion even easier to remember, VERMIN.CLUB domain. I have it registered and currently it has a (now out of date) link to the old site. ( Also have NWVALKYRIE.CLUB as well.)

As was mentioned above, I am a non-compensated volunteer. I will do my best to get things straightened out but this club comes fourth on my list of priorities:
1. Family (but you all are already starting to feel a little like that)
2. Work
3. My Bike (I like you all but if I can't ride, I might as well put a bullet in my head) Smiley
4. Vermin club.

Let's all just step back and take a breath. I'll update this thread (or should I create a new one?) with updates to the site. Can we all agree to try and meet up, talk face to face, and maybe not throw the baby out with the bathwater simply because the website is down?

As a new member here, I'd really like to get to know you all better. Hell, I haven't even ridden with anybody yet. (Broken ankle is healed enough to ride so I *hope* to remedy that in the next few weeks/months.)

Your Vermin Secretary,
Icelander

Gordon,

I guess, that'll be the first thing I'll get up on the VERMIN.CLUB site.

Thanks Icelander for all of your efforts.  Sorry as a new member you are having to deal with conflict right off the bat.  I like your priorities.

On a positive note I will say I have had fun riding with everyone in the club and I mean everyone. The good times have far outweighed the current bump in the road we are experiencing now.

John Lane, I do believe you are one of the original founders of the club.  At least I read something about you in the VERMIN history books.  Delighted to have you down at Gators.  Hopefully we will have a great breakfast, a good business meeting and a ride.  A good ride cures a lot of ills  cooldude

I for one feel that a cooling off time is in order and the web page will come back.  It's a hell of a attention getter that there are some problems but it is something we should be able to over come. in the mean time the VRCC board is a perfect temp solution.......

From THE VERMIN NATION Evil what!, no not again, aw gees, not the new thing again.Oh well, see ya at Breakfast...

Hurray - Finally got the VRCC certifications re-activated.  Have not used the log-in for a while.  Usually just read on the board and do not post.
Anyway, I am offended (jokingly) by the reference to herding cats, feral or otherwise  tickedoff.  Vermin, or even Rat Pack as Vermin, is much more acceptable.  Cool  And NO! the Vermin cannot be herded.
I agree somewhat with the 'cooling off period'.  I am not sure how we got so far down the wrong path.  But, that seems to correlate to a Vermin headed down the wrong road (like that ever happens).  I plan on being at the next meeting at Gators on 02/14.

NOTICE: The New Pointer on the 'Suspended' VERMIN Website now goes directly to this Thread. However, your caches probably are retaining an earlier Pointer.

There are actually 3 different Pointers in place. The easiest to clear is to go to: http://www.vermin-club.org

I need to get input directly from you guys B4 anything more drastic goes down. I plan to attend the March 14th Meeting at Gators.

New BB being set-up and tested now: http://vermin-club.org/wordpress/forums/forum/bulletin-board/

You will need to be Registered w/ new passwords. I'll Add the dues paying Members w/ your handle and a dumb pw. You should upgrade the pw asap. This new BB is the most secure against hackers, and is set to auto update itself as threats appear.

It is also more advanced and allows YouTube videos to be displayed directly on the BB. We have a couple of them posted now as Tests.

Icelander now has full VERMIN Website access.

The Vermin BB is now back online and seems to be working fine. Our techies are also working on a new and improved (?) BB. We will need to discuss which one the Club will use at our next meeting on the 14th.
