Doing preventive maintenance on my 99 IS I looked at the shop talk instructions for starter button disassembly and thought it looked easy enough. I took out the two screws that hold the housing assembly together and separated the two halves. The two throttle cables go up and over the throttle assembly and put enough tension on the lower half of the housing so that I can not get to the two small Phillips screws out to take out the switch. Apparently I am missing something to get enough slack to lower the switch housing. Any suggestions? Thanks.

You can get them off (not easy) without taking them loose from the carb bank but you could loosen them on the other end and get more slack.
