2014 Valkyrie 1800

Seminole, Florida

F6B
« on: March 15, 2015, 05:25:44 AM »

I joined the F6B Forum and have been poking around there soaking up as much as I can. This bike has brought me closer to making a move than any other Undecided I have never kept any bike more than two years until my Valkyrie.
I think I like it, although I don't have that burning desire that I used to get when I had to have something. Maybe just getting older and content with what I already have?

Doug

I also lurk in that forum.

I love the F6B deluxe (in Yellow).  Just watch Kim and Eddie roll in and you know it is a great bike.  One common complaint it the saddle bags opening on the side tends to let the cargo dump out, Honda sells bags you can load and then place into the saddle bags.  Nothing is perfect.

Crystal hates the seat so no F6B for us.

Doug

I know what you're feeling ref the F6B. I really like the modernity (is that a word?) of this bike.
I saw quite a few around Daytona and they looked pretty sharp.
I especially like the way the rear end and bags are designed, they seem to flow together  very well.
I'm not wild about a fairing, I do like a windshield to see what's immediately in front of me.
I'm sure the fuel injected 1800 is a big plus, but: like you; I've got my bikes about where I want them and it took years and a lot of money and effort to do so.
They're paid for and I  just can't see taking on a financial burden for something that's a lot more of a like then a need.
I see the amount of time and expense HubcapSC has spent on his bike to make it his own and it looks good, but I just don't feel like embarking on that journey again, especially since I'm in the middle of a redo on my new to me 2001.

I'm Not Sure About Doug Being SKEERT, But I Am. To Think That I Would Have To Sell All Three Of My Valkyries  Just To Own A F6B Is Rediculous To Me.

Question, wouldn't a fairer assumption be a used F6B? That way maybe you could keep 1 of the 3?

All good points for the F6B, we like Eddie and Kim's feedback when we talk to them for sure. Our old style Valkyries to many of us are more like "functional classics", and not oranges to oranges with more modern bikes of the size we prefer. In the Honda line, hard to beat anything with an 1800, an engine swap many of us would, and have pondered. If you move on to an F6B or other, would you self service or dealer, even if buying used?
As for me...I'm in the "SuperWing" group  Cool

Kinda like noses, everyone has one but I personally don't like the rear view.  And yes I know that is probably what one would see after the race started. Smiley

If you are on the fence..... don't ride one.  Evil Evil

I never thought I would give up my Valkyrie either, never found anything good enough until the F6B. Tried the Rocket 3, wonderful bike but the appeal of the flat 6 engine was greater than the thrill {& vibration} of the 2300cc three. I have always been a fan of the 1832cc GW platform. When the F6B came along I was intrigued but a bit put off by the fixed fairing & the close resemblance to the GW.  Heard the rumor of another flat 6 powered bike coming from Honda so I waited to see what it was. We all know what came.  Embarrassed Yuck..
Anyways it was obvious to me that those two bikes were all that was coming from Honda with a flat 6 so the choice became easy. The F6B is a superior riding motorcycle in nearly every category as well it should be with the advancements in technology since the classic Valkyrie. If $$ scare you bear in mind that we have just $29.5K in BOTH our F6B's brand new off the showroom floor. Thats's about the same as some folks plunk down for ONE FXLRTWXYZ Super Deluxe Flaming Skull Edition Classic Road Master from a famous bike maker. There are deals to be had for F6B's. Seems like history is repeating itself from original Valkyrie to F6B. V-twink mania still rules but there are much better bikes out there for those willing to go there!  cooldude

Doug

I think that you have been talking/thinking about the F6B for a while now, I myself have thought about it.
It kind of reminds me when Eddie was all over that bike when we were at the Honda dealer, he was laying down on the ground checking the bottom of the bike, I seen that and I knew that it was just a matter of time  Grin

Just like any bike, they all have their pros and cons but part of the fun is making it your own, as long as you have a good platform to start from and the F6B is an outstanding platform if you ask me.

The only way that you are going to satisfy your questions is by taking one out for a demo ride, at this point I think it is an inevitable situation for you, you are only delaying it but will eventually happen  Grin

I seriously considered the 2013 Deluxe F6B with the slim trunk that someone posted on the General Forum, I liked how the trunk changed the look of the rear.
Guy was selling it due to his new job, I had talked to the wife about it and I was willing to take a trip but IF and that is a big IF I take the plunge, I will definitely have to take one out for a test ride first.
Guy ended up changing his mind and keeping the bike so I just took it as a sign  Grin

Either way, my thinking was to keep the Valk as well, can't see myself parting with the Phat Gurl. I wonder how many people think the same way and then end up selling the Valk anyways. It happened to me with my previous VTX, I ended up selling it because every time I went for a ride, I gravitated towards the Valk and they were both set up with the same amenities.
Dare I say that I also like the looks of the Victory Cross Country and the Victory Magnum X-1, good thing they are over 20k and I really do not want to shell out that much  Grin

Anyways, I think it is safe to say that you are closer to a jump to the other side than me, good luck with your endeavor and let us know your feedback when and if you go for a test ride  cooldude

This would be done already, however we just did a remodel and a new kitchen. Still thought about it, but we now need a new roof and a total rebuild of our flat roof addition. That should put the brakes on toys this year. They are putting a pitch on it and tying into the main roof. As it SHOULD HAVE been done the first time. Flat Roof? Really? How did that plan ever get off the drawing board? 2funny
So it's lurking and researching and learning for now. I do know I will stay with a Flat-6. So it would be a Wing, Super Wing, or F6B.
Still kick myself for not buying TJ's cool Wing.

I traded my St1300 in for my F6B thinking I would kept my Valk and F6B. But I made a deal with my wife that I would sell my Valk. So I will be listing it soon. But what I'm trying to say is as much as I love Valkyrie's I don't want to drive it any more, I just want to ride the F6B.

I feel just the opposite, I have access to my buddy's 08 Goldwing anytime and I would always choose the Valk. When I ride the Wing it is a very smooth ride, almost to smooth.

I really love the feel and the rumble of the Valk, it feels alive like a bike should. I wouldn't trade my Valk for anything out there right now. The only ride that I am looking for is another late model 06 or newer FJR, that bike was a very sweet ride and I miss her.

Am about the same as Bronxboy in what I like to feel while I ride. The raw "analogue" combination of noise, power, ride and looks has kept me right where I want to be as far as the Valkyrie goes.

I can see Eddie smiling right now.  Roll Eyes

I get it, Honda u suck.  For some-We can't have our cake and eat it too.  This definitely stirs the pot of confusion.   We want the classic look and a flippin 1800FI in a new bike.

I Do Agree That The F6B Is An Awesome Bike And If I Do Replace The Valkyries Or Buy Another Bike It Will Most Likely Be An F6b.

As it stands now, there is no confusion in my garages! I LOVE my new Indian Chieftain. The Vakyrie is still a fantastic bike, and the lure of an 1800 vs the 1520 is not worth my $$. I actually like the mystique of six carbs. How many people have those? The HD is sold to my nephew, and in the nostalgia department, my 1977 BMW R100/7 fits the bill nicely.

I am a happy boy, with about any kind of biking experience I want at my finger tips. I guess you could say I was blessed, at least that's how I feel! I've never been a follower, and I ride and drive what I love, not what everybody else wants. To me a motorcycle is a finely tuned machine - not a life style. Sometimes I feel like a V twin, sometimes like a boxer twin and other times like riding a truly smooth and classic boxer six. Did I say that  I LOVE a classically styled motorcycle? Plastic is my business, but I prefer it in my kitchen cabinets, not on my motorcycles and firearms. cooldude
