I of course have the service manual pdf referenced in this forum but it's a copy of a hard copy. Has anyone ever seen an original or a searchable pdf?

No, only the fiche.  I originally was downloading every page as a pdf and planning to compile them into a single pdf.  But I didn't have the software and wasn't going to buy it just for that so I started printing it.  If you had the software and wanted to create one it should be fairly easy....... just time consuming.

I created a Text file for my PDF, which list the Chapters and which page # to find it on.

Then every time I search the manual for something, I add that to the proper chapter section and list the page # to find it. Makes finding something in the future a lot easier, as I can now jump directly to a page # and them browse.

Not much, since I wrote off my IS before I needed to do any repairs. Looks like you also have to align everything back. But in the file I used Tab. I also use this as a place to store notes. Things like oil filters to us, bearings, some how-to, etc.

No problem. There must not be one. Or I'm sure someone on here would have it.

Not 100% sure it is searchable but here is the Honda Service Manual online.

http://valkyrienorway.com/download.html

I can't download while at work but it is the only copy online that I am aware of.

I'm at work and have Adobe Acrobat, so I converted Dag's scanned PDF to a searchable PDF then ran Adobe Acrobat's Optimizing the scanned document function and OCR text recognition. That crated a searchable document that works with the normal Adobe Reader's search function.

I can now open the PDF in Adobe Reader, hold down the Ctl and F keys, which opens the "Find" box within the PDF (see the blue box in the pic below). Then you can just hit next or the enter key to page through everywhere the word you searched on is in the document.

The problem is that the file is 200+ MB which is to large to email. I wonder if Dag would be willing to post it on his Web site if I postal mailed it to him?? Any other solutions for making it available??
Thanks,
tkylli

Looks like your file name ends in .pdf.pdf

having it in there twice may cause problems on some systems.  I am downloading it now to check it out.

My work IT let me upload it, but not download it...

EDIT: I tried to DL again and it worked fine. Saved to my HD without issues. I did take about 10 minutes. The file on my HD is "Valkyrie GL1500.1.pdf" so I wonder if Google automatically adds the extra .pdf?

While people are fussing with the PDF file, it would be nice if someone would replace page 16-11 (364) with a new scan without a big black square blocking most of the page.

I think I can scan my shop manual and replace that page and re-upload the PDF, not a problem. I'll try and work on that this week. (But not at work :-)

Sorry for all the trouble but ya'll are gonna kill me after you hear this. I assumed the original download that we all have from Valkyrie Norway was not searchable because it was a scan of a hard copy. So I never even tried (dummy me). But it is searchable. I tested it and it seems to work fine. Sorry for all the trouble, feeling pretty stupid right now.  uglystupid2

But having that page would be great also. Maybe after you get that one fixed they will put it on the Norway sight. But like I said the OCR works on the original, so maybe fixing the page on that one would be the best since its over 30mb smaller.

Here's a a link to the complete manual with the 16-11 page added.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0yQ2QidPR6jZkRRZ1Zqby1qbkk/view?usp=sharing

Here's just page 16-11.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0yQ2QidPR6jcXBwQV9INnBUT00/view?usp=sharing

The scan is just from a flatbed scanner with the manual open, so it has a shadow around the edges but is still readable.

Thanks, tlylli!  It looks like you cleaned up some of the background clutter from the other sides of the pages, and turned the schematics so we don't have to tilt our heads sideways, too!

You're very welcome. I work for an IT company that makes hospital software (FDA Regulated) so I go to a LOT of meetings all day. This kept me awake during the boring parts  2funny

Just noticed that you're from Carnesville, Ga. We have an office in Alpharetta just down the road.
