How many folks would be available for a wrench party this Saturday?
If so, chime in with what you want to get done.

I will be. I may need some help if I don't get my turn signals working and installing a CB.

Wish I could, I still need my aux driving lights and headlight relay wired up but Brianna has a Softball doublheader on Saturday.
Maybe next time.

I would be happy to be there. I have ordered front and rear bearings, and hope they arrive before then ( but I believe there are some spares that I can replenish if my order doesn't get here in time). I also need to put new oil in my forks.

I'd like to go to the dark side and I have to replace the valve stem in the front. Is this something for the wrench party or shall I take it to a dealer/mechanic? If so, any suggestions on a dealer or mechanic?

So, I count - 3 rear drive services -- 2 with tire changes
- 1 front tire change
- 1 front tire breakdown for valve stem replacement
Fair warning: It's going to be a long day. I've got one working lift and one lift adaptor. We're going to need at least one more of each and two would be preferred so that three bikes can be in process at the same time.

Wow, sounds like lots of big work to be done. None of it's really hard, but there will be lots of steps. So, to help ensure that everything gets done, for those of us with projects, we need to be prepared to do our own disassembly and reassembly work. There will be plenty of armstrong labor to help with the physical stuff, plenty of Valkyrie-specific knowledge, and lots brain power to help with the special stuff. I'll bring a lift, the football, and the special tools. Rumor has it there will even be several mystery guests...

Let's start at 0900. I'll have coffee available and if we're real sweet to Buzzkill, I'll bet he'll pick up donuts and kalaches for us.If you've never been or can't remember where I live, PM me through the board for address information. Please let me know who you are, because I won't respond to names/handles I don't recognize. For those of you planning tire changes, I strongly encourage you to bring some Ride-On with you, unless you are using DynaBeads to balance your tires. I like Ride-On because it both balances and provides puncture protection in the center tread area of the tire. I estimate that my front tire wear was extended 50% after starting to use it. I can't say that it was all due to the Ride-On, but it sure didn't make things worse. Cycle Center of Denton stocks it at the same price you can buy it online: about $14/bottle. You'll need one bottle for the front and between 1-1/4 and 1-1/2 bottle for the rear, depending on tire. Also, check your brake pads as this is a good time to change them if needed. We have standard O rings for the rear drive at no charge. I do not have spares of rear wheel dampers or brake pads -- these were depleted at other wrench parties and I haven't re-stocked. I believe I have spare bearing sets which can be had for the price of replacements. One bay of the garage will be taken up by the tire changer. The other bay by one bike on a lift. We can work on several more bikes in the driveway, provided we have lifts and adaptors. My hope is to have at least two of the rear drive services/tire changes in progress concurrently. My advice for anyone planning an extended trip or if your drive line has not been serviced recently is that we check it from the output shaft back, i.e., pull the u-joint for inspection. Since we're not NASCAR pit crews, expect at least a hour and a half to do a rear drive service and tire change. Flap-jawing and grab-assing (or is it grab-jawing and flap-assing?) extends this rather dramatically. Baron, if you bring your bike, I'll try and help you with your turn signal issue. Apparently Tom has volunteered to arrange for lunch.

If anyone forgets their Ride-On, I'll have plenty-o-DynaBeads.
If anyone discovers they need to replace their u-joint and doesn't have a spare in their saddlebag, or if you just want to have one in your saddlebag, I'll have you covered. Well, not everyone. Supply limited to the first four two.

Has anyone volunteered to be the acting director/executive management? Someone to do a little bit of Pidgin management, swoop in and crap on everything! Well, I'll volunteer to bring a dozen donuts from Dunkin Donuts and to lend a hand at something that won't get my hands dirty Generally I will lend moral support and provide a bit of humor.

WOW!! What a crowd!! I guess everybody decided to take advantage of the beautiful weekend and jump on their bikes. Think, at one point, there was between 12 -15 people there. Maybe 10 bikes. A BIG thanks to Valkpilot for hosting this event. He certainly pulled out all the stops when it came to providing the space, equipment, tools and expertise!! Started with the first bike in the open bay (mine) at around 8:45 am and Valkpilot said the last person left after 8:30 pm... do you think he was tired? Everybody got some or all of his help on their misc. projects: Tire changes, rear drive servicing, brakes, electrical and on and on. Most everyone there either had something they needed help on or they were helping someone who needed an extra hand or suggestion. Kudos to all... especially to Dave

Aw, shucks. : Seriously, it was quite a day. We did - 4 tire changes (1 front, three rear)
- 1 front valve stem (so another tire breakdown)
- 3 rear drive services
- 2 u-joint inspections (which means two boot re-installations)
- 1 turn signal fix (Thank you 5-19)
- 1 stem-to-stern breakdown (front & rear bearings, drive splines, pinion splines, u-joint) chasing an odd vibration in Timbo's bike.
Funny, it doesn't look like much now... P.S. Thank you to whoever put money in the cigar jar for shop supplies. It will be put to good use for future get togethers.
