The only thing that does not work on my 99 standard is the side stand down warning light in the tach.  I dove in to it and cant see any bulb for it. It is not one of the flashlight bulbs. The side stand switch works fine, bike dies if put into gear with stand  down.  Any one had this indicator go out and fixed it?

I dont see anything in the manual about it.

Sounds as if the bulb is burned out, easy fix. The Service Manual should be looked at and is available at the site below.

I can not find anything in the manual about a bulb.  In the tach the only bulbs I see are flashlight type for turn, nutural, and temp. I think it might be a small LED for the stand.

Hey Jruby38.

Seems like you've had this issue before.  Did you get it fixed and it happened again or were you never able to repair it?

The turn, neutral and high beam lights are in the headlight and are easily replaced, the tach and speedo back lights are also easy to replace.

This side stand light is on the standard and tourer models only, for some reason Honda didn't use them on the interstates.

I may be wrong, but I don't believe you can replace the bulbs, which I think are LED's.

The manual states, when checking the oil pressure light, if all else checks out and proves it's the bulb, you must replace the whole tach.  I guessing it's the same for the side stand and coolant temp lights.

It still might be the switch.  The side-stand switch is a single pole double throw (SPDT) switch.  The "up" position on the switch could work fine, allowing the bike to start or not depending on the side-stand and clutch switches, while the "down" position on the switch isn't making a good contact, thus not illuminating the side-stand indicator.

As stated in as above.

There are 3 wires on the standard/Tourer for the side stand switch.

copied from the service manual.

INSPECTION
Remove the following:
- seat (page 2-2).
- left side cover (page 2-31.

Disconnect the side stand switch 3P-green (GL1500CF:
2P-green) connector under the frame cross member.
Check for continuity between the side stand switch side
connector terminals.

There should be continuity between the greed/white and
green wire terminals with the side stand retracted.
GLI 500C/CT only: There should be continuity yellow/black
and green wire terminals with the side stand lowered.
