Planning a road trip to Atlanta suburbs from central Florida.  Would like to avoid the interstate s and still make it a day trip. And then from there to western pa. No rush to western pa.

Depending on your starting location, take a look at US 129

What part of Central Florida?
Nice to see you on the forum by the way.
Several of the riders take 441 up to the mountains when they go from Florida.

If you have never been to Warm Springs Ga. it is a nice place to visit.  Franklin Delano Roosevelt state park has a surprisingly nice view from the knob where FDR used to go when he wanted to be alone.  There is even remnants of his BBQ pit that he used there.  You can take back roads to get there and it is only about an hour from Atlanta.  It is on the West side of Ga.

I know right where you your looking at Warm Springs and Pine Mountain area. Nice ride and if you have time take the ride south of Columbus to Lumpkin to see the "GA Little Grand Canyon."  cooldude

Leesburg, I did check out the boat show in Tavares today. Alot of nice very boats. Did see a large snake close to shore laying there in the grass. Alot of people thought it might be a moccasin I thouht it would be black in color along with a viper type head.I have no ides what they look like. Up home I along with friends do a annual rattle snake round in june in central pa. But we would call that a large water snake there. Brown in color if that helps to describe it.  Oh, sorry, I got side tracked . Thanks for the route suggestions will be headed up that way this week.

Well Hell...you are located right around the corner from me and not far from Bert either. Plus, Tropic Traveller works in Leesburg. Put your location in your profile page.
Yep...there were a few water snakes down there. Always see them and, like you, always hear folks go "Look out, theres a Moccasin down there" Every snake is a Moc to them I guess.

I'd go up 441 as it has a lot of by passes around most of the larger towns, Just watch your
speed as they love giving out welcome notes to Florida folks. You can take I-20 into east Atlanta
just to pick up some time if you need to, or 29 into north Atlanta. I have used 441 about 4-5
times going to or from N.C it is not as fast but it is not white knuckle riding like the super
slab where things can go wrong real fast. Have a great trip and be safe out there.
