OK group, here is one for ya:
got a 1999 Honda GL 1500 Goldwing that had been down for $500.
got a 1999 Honda Valkyrie frame.
I have spent the last couple of months building this Valkyrie. (and some $)
it is now complete (as far as I can tell)
the problem: there is a connector (black, 6 pole, male) on the front of the engine that I cannot find its connector mate.
wires are: black with yellow stripe, light green with red stripe, white with red stripe, red, and dark green with red stripe.
now, I know that it can only go just so far (wire is just so long) and can only go to a female connector.
there is the problem, no connector.
this is a "frankencycle"
yes, I can hear you all laughing.
this is not my first bike build' nor my first Honda.
BTW, I cannot tell you which year/ model Valkyrie the wiring harness is.
it does have the white connector for the gauge console.
I will post pictures asap.
anyway, after you all stop rolling on the floor laughing, maybe someone can pull a rabbit out of a hat.
it does crank, but no spark.
thanks for your help.

Not sure I understand your situation.

Your mounting a Wing motor in a Valk frame with a Valk wiring harness?

If so, I'd check the wiring diagram of a Wing.

The Wing has a lot more going on electrically, than a Valk.

If I'm correct, there is 2 Valk wire harnesses. The std/tourer, and the interstate.

What is it you are actually doing? Valk frame and wire harness, and a GW motor? or?

You call it a Valk, so I take it you are using a Valk wire harness. You are using the GW motor in the Valk frame? Did you have a Valk motor to compare to the GW one, and make sure each have the same items?

I think your difficulty is in trying to get the harness to work with the wrong motor.

You said white connect for gauges, so does this mean you have the IS wire harness?

I went through all the Rattlebars' schematics, found no 6 pin plug as described.

HOWEVER, what jumped out at me is the LG/R wire.
That is the interlock for the starter, which obviously works.

That led me to the other wire (G/Wh) for the Ignition Module, which is for the sidestand switch interlock. It needs a ground for Ignition, which comes from the sidestand switch.  Check that for now.

Can't recall if you can Crank the starter with the sidestand down and in gear, but think not. I KNOW it won't have spark in that condition, based on Note 6 on Sheet 13.

I'll dig deeper into the schematics for you in a bit (I'm at work), but please absolutely clean up and VERIFY those wire colors.

OK, firstly, I would like to say THANK YOU all for your interest and feedback! cooldude
Next, in my fog of frustration, I went to one of the Goldwing forums and there were the words: "the Goldwing uses a gear indicator as part of the dash display". Roll Eyes
Oh happy day!    Grin
Who needs 'em on a Valkyrie? Smiley
Now all I have to do is replace that leaking thermostat housing, put the carbs back on, etc. and put gas in the tank, cross my fingers and ride! Grin

Here we go:  I somehow acquired a 1999 Goldwing gl1500 for $500. It had been laid down  and the plastics were gone.
What a mess! The only thing uglier is, well, not much. I purchased a 1999 Valkyrie frame and then it started to get expensive. I was able to use the gl swingarm but not the forks. There are no stops and the forks hit the tank.
After receiving the mounting rails for a Valkyrie I found that the mounting points (the rubber mounts that the bolt goes through) were too long and had to be trimmed with the exception of the one by the ignition switch.
Also, the outlet of the water pump comes out straight and needs a hose the makes a 90 degree turn for the Valkyrie.
Another difference is the thermostat housing does not have a temp sensor. Replace or .....
This engine also has reverse. I trimmed the linkage in order to mount my rear brakefluid tank.
One last thing, the valve covers have    1500     in the middle.
Other than those minor issues, yes, you can put a Honda Goldwing gl1500 engine in a Valkyrie.
I have done it.
p.s. there is also an extra wire for a "gear indicator" near the oil filter for the gl that will make you wonder "wtf" is this for?
If you have any questions feel free to ask me.

Having resurrected several bikes in the past 40 or so years, I have never had one that ran as smooth as this Valkyrie.
FINALLY, it runs! Complete with leaking fuel rail (3-5) B-12 to the rescue! After some intermittent run times (while carefully watching) it finally stopped leaking, just like I read on the forum.
This bike was built COMPLETELY from parts purchased on the internet. Parts came from several states and countries.
Would I do it again? Only if I didn't have a bike to ride and only if it is a Honda, thank you.
Dollar totals? Afraid to think about it. Don't ask. It has been a great run.

Tell ya what, I'm just gonna stick to fixing' my bike. There's enough frustration just doing that. Life is just too short to be screwing with a damn computer. Might have to use your imagination as to what a Valkyrie looks like while I go for a ride.
(sorry). tickedoff
Please don't be upset with me, I just have other priorities. I really do appreciate the folks on this forum, you all are awesome. cooldude
