I recently bought a 2003 Valkyrie Standard and the back rest is too low for comfort for my wife. Any suggestions on an aftermarket product that would raise the back rest up about 4 to 6 inches? Currently the top of the back rest is about 9 inches above the seat and she would like it to be about 15 inches above the seat so it hits her mid back to shoulder area. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Also curious about aftermarket detachable saddle bags. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Tim

Des at Ultimate seat made a higher mounted back rest several years ago. I don't know about now.
I'd sell ya mine but someone would holler like a stuck pig.

I think I'd look at building something myself to raise the seat back--a bracket out of ss or alum?

Would a wider back rest help? Mustang makes one that will fit the OEM backrest bracket and it tilts forward about 5 deg. And is much wider than an OEM. Just a thought.

Nah, I have a better and more innovative solution. Leave the backrest alone, and find another (younger) female passenger that like the backrest just the way it is. Done.

A piece of aluminum flat stock or stainless steel ( a little harder to work with) and make a template from cardboard or thin plywood with the backrest of her choice. The metal is adapted to the backrest and then to the pad. My divorce cost me a quarter million dollars on the first go round and another $90,000 to support the slug. Best money I ever spent. Fix the bike to suit her.
