Those who are crass may rejoice. We are saddened by the news. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.
NBC News and news services updated 25 minutes ago BOSTON - Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, the liberal lion of the Senate and haunted bearer of the Camelot torch after two of his brothers fell to assassins' bullets, has died at his home in Hyannis Port after battling a brain tumor. He was 77.
For nearly a half-century in the Senate, Kennedy was a steadfast champion of the working class and the poor, a powerful voice on health care, civil rights, and war and peace. To the American public, though, he was best known as the last surviving son of America's most glamorous political family, the eulogist of a clan shattered again and again by tragedy.
His family announced his death in a brief statement released early Wednesday.
"We've lost the irreplaceable center of our family and joyous light in our lives, but the inspiration of his faith, optimism, and perseverance will live on in our hearts forever," the statement said. "We thank everyone who gave him care and support over this last year, and everyone who stood with him for so many years in his tireless march for progress toward justice, fairness and opportunity for all."

I not happy he's dead, but simply did not care for his politics or the fact that he got away with what amounts to murder

Last week he asked if he could change the rules in Mass about someone taking his place. Another maneuver on his part. I have heard if you cant say something nice about a person then dont say anything ,so I stand on that. I wish that someone would post a little history on the good and bad that he did while in office. Let the mans works speak for him!

When Romney was gov of Mass., Kennedy got a law passed that took the power to appoint a replacement OUT of the govs hands, and required an election. Now that there is a dem gov, Kennedy refused to step down until the legislature changed the law back so that the dem gov could replace.
He did not trust the people of Mass to choose his replacement. Typical Progressive, not trusting the people.
Since he was never judged here for the death he caused and was responsible for, Mary Jo, and the millions of unborn children he has caused to be murdered, he has been judged now by a much higher power.

So are Hillary, Polosi and Barack, people he supported in their attempt to dismantle the Constitution. The trouble with Kennedys dieing is that none of them did it soon enough.

No tears here over another ultra left wing Socialist. Don't forget his "leadership" in dismantling the draft. For years we had a ready made training ground for young men to learn to get along with each other and learn some life skills and values; the same missing skills and values that helped lead us into the "bubbles" and "service economy" BS that has so weakened America. Nobama calls him the "greatest senator ever".......... in the words of Bugs Bunny......... "What a maroon". I think there is a bright red glow coming off my neck again.

I dont want to drive over any bridge with his name on it hate that the name of the Triboro bridge was changed to RFK with no consideration to the residents of this city.
Hated Ted s politics. He did more to make me a conservative that many others.
Did admire his brother Jack's courage and taste in starlets Who can forget happy birthday mr president. JFK taught me it is ok to be scared but that if you are determined you can persevere. Endeavor to persevere is also one of my favorite lines from Outlaw Josie Wales.
Mary jo's family can now find some measure of peace I hope

Doc, I resolved early this morning that I was going to keep my mouth shut and respect those who are grieving the passing of Senator Kennedy. Those who know me well on this board know my thoughts regarding the Senator from Massachusetts. I also agree with your statement that he was a major force in American politics and very passionate about his beliefs, however this does not in itself constitute a very high standard. We could have said the same thing for Adolph Hitler, Yassar Arafat, Joseph Stalin and a myriad of others; all of which were major forces on the political scene in their respective governments and were also passionate in their beliefs. I mean this sincerely, I hope Senator Kennedy was square with his creator before his passing.

I feel bad for the immediate family of Mr. Kennedy. However, I cannot help but mention that he was one of the major reasons our country has deteriorated to the level it has. He & his kind have done terrible harm to all we conservatives hold dear. May his soul rest in peace.

Good riddence to bad rubbish. No sorrow here. As to the "To the American public, though, he was best known as the last surviving son of America's most glamorous political family, the eulogist of a clan shattered again and again by tragedy." All I can say is when you USE your DAD's MOB connections to get you elected to President of the United States and then you and your brother (the Attorney General) attack the hand that feeds you by indicting the Mob's henchmen.......aint too smart. That chit will get ya killed.........Oh wait, It DID get em killed. Then when your a novice pilot and fly out over the ocean in the dark and because of your inexperience you fly your plane into the ocean and kill yourself, your wife and her sister. That aint smart either. The irony there is that we spent 12 million tax payers bucks looking for the bodies. Then when we found em........we slid em off a board right back into the drink off the back of a destroyer. Then when your playing football on snow skis and the ski patrol comes and tells you not to do that.....its dangerous......and you ski into a tree and kill yourself......well that aint smart either. Uncle Ted killed an innocent girl by driving a car off a ferry landing, then goes BACK to the party they were just at....then goes home and waits til the next day to call the family "spin" team....THEN call the police. Death is well deserved.....only thing it was just not soon enough. The Kennedy's have been a "clan shattered time and again by tragedy". I guess "tragedy" is a synonym for stupidity. Its one thing to feel your above the laws of the land. But EVEN Kennedy's are subject to the laws of gravity. The "dynasty" is finally dead. Long live personal freedom. No....no mourning will be done here. As a matter of fact, I am kicking back a celebratory drink. I'll give him a thought while I relieve my bladder in a little bit.

Yeah, I just got the low down on this. Apparently when Romney (R) was governor. He lobbyed and secured the law that required there be an election to replace an incumbent should he be unable to complete his term. This being so that Romney could not put someone in HIS seat. Now that Romney is out and Patrick (D) is in office he wanted to "change" (there goes that word again) the law back. Of course, he wanted to be able to "pick" his own successor in the backlight and have Patrick "puppet" his decision. LOL Oh yeah, a real piece of chit here. Yep, everytime I take a pi$$ I uttered the words "Here's to you Ted".

Oh yeah....one more thing......Daddy Joe "bought" the ambassador to England seat from Roosevelt in pre WWII England. While in England, Daddy Joe praised Hitler at EVERY turn. He thought Hitler was a GREAT guy. He was the best thing to happen to Germany in decades. He quietly was "recalled" to America by Roosevelt. Seems the English did not agree (imagine that), and Roosevelt kinda figured he needed to bring him home. Oh yeah, and while in England.......Ted's older sister who was "mentally" challenged was whisked away by Daddy Joe to a hospital and LOBOTOMIZED AGAINST HER WILL. And why was she lobotomized?????? "She was an embarrassment to the family" (Daddy Joe's own words). She was institutionalized for the rest of her life. Momma Rose (who supposedly was not consulted in Daddy Joe's decision) supposedly never forgave Daddy Joe for his UNILATERAL decision. So his "championing" of Special Olympics has a history unknown to the average "Kool Aid" drinker. So now you know from his upbringing why he was such a twisted, self possessed, pathetic, self serving piece of chit.

Clearly, I am guessing there aren't a lot of true Christians in this group. Well, actually there are a lot of professed true Christians, but I am not sure they are truely true Christians. Otherwise there wouldn't be such hate being expressed here.
I think he is facing his maker and will get what he deserves, as we all will. As Doc said, RIP Mr. Kennedy.

Charlie, I think you make a very good point and an interesting observation, but it may entirely depend upon who you meant by "this group". Please note the very large number of participants of this board who did not post to this thread or express "hate".
Of course, if we were all truly true Christians, perhaps you and I wouldn't be involved in judging whether others are "true Christians".
I certainly trust we won't all get what we deserve. I, for one, am strongly placing my hope in a very large dose of grace and forgiveness.

+1, MP. I was worried I would be considered out of line for bringing up the fact that he was expelled from Harvard for cheating. Expelled twice; once for cheating, the second time for paying someone to cheat for him. What a guy!

The only two things that any of the Kennedy Clan ever did that I personally will applaud is that the oldest (Jack?) gave his life while flying during WWII and JFK did keep the Russians out of Cuba by issuing an ultimatum to them. Other than that, they were all socialists both in word and in deed. I have no use for socialists or LBJ's "Great Society" which followed the demise of JFK which put LBJ and Lady Bird in the White House. LBJ's "Great Society" was the beginning of all the socialistic, bleeding-heart Democratic programs that have led us to the financial debacle that we find ourselves in today. Would someone please tell me just how spending huge sums of borrowed money would somehow cure my financial problems if I was bankrupt?...JTL

Well put, Willow!!! I agree 110%. I didn't mean to judge anyone, just offer food for thought. I like your way of putting it better than mine.
