My radio and screen display just stopped working on my 2000 interstate? The fuel gauge on the display monitor is still working but nothing else. No clock or radio. I would be very grateful for advise what it may be?  It always worked fine. Then one day it stopped working when I started it up. Thanks in advance for any help.  Ray

That is symptom of dead or dying alternator as well
check fuse 1st then put volt meter on bike to see if charging 14v

I've never had an Interstate and always wanted one. I quess I could tell you that this is the 1st sign of it's total failure and I can offer scrap pricing to take it off your hands, but I'm sure you would see right thru that. That all being said and since I've never had one, have you checked fuses? Don't know f the radio is fused alone or not.

I have read of a few people having the same issue and found that it was a corrosion inside a connector under the battery box. I did a quick search and found this old link. Be sure to check your fuses first.

Check the 5amp fuse (i think) in the small fuse box next to the main one under the right side cover.

I emailed you a document that will likely solve this electrical gremlin.

had the same happen on my IS last year. the problem was the connector under the battery box. it was corroded. pulled battery and box opened and cleaned the connector. applied Dio grease to all connector points then sealed the plug with elect tape.

Sometimes the pins inside the plug are too corroded and beyond repair. When that happens the plug has to be cut out and wires spliced IAW the document that I have been passing around.

If it s not the connector as described above --- I have two interstates and I am a plane Jane - I took the radios off and with it the left side radio control switch box and then put on new clamps form the right side brake. When the radio comes out the only thing that is displayed is the gas gauge. Juśt the way I like it.  So it sounds like the radio. Seems there are plenty on EBad if not PM me I will give up mine and the controls.  Can't hear the music over 50 mph anyway. I'll stick to machanical music.

Did he get the control box wet whether in the rain or a wash?  If that box gets wet, you won't have a radio until it dries out.
