I'll try and make a list of little things to see and do in the Hills, esp for those that have not been there. Mostly of little known places that are neat.

Cheyenne Crossing restaurant-south entrance to Spearfish Canyon. Good home cooked meals.

Black Hills National Cemetery-Veteran cemetery on I-90 east of Sturgis a couple miles.

Vore Buffalo Jump National Historical Site-Beulah WY. Thousand yr old buffalo jump. Still currently being used as a archeological dig. Right on the SD/WY border.

Tatanka Museum-Deadwood. Owned and ran by Kevin Costner. Museum of bison and the Lakota.

Adams Co museum in Deadwood-Lotta local history.

Saloon #10 in Deadwood-Reenactments of when Hickok was killed.

Aladdin WY-General store/post office/bar/consignment shop/grocery store/gas station. Neat original 120+ yr old store. Between Bel Fourche SD & Heulet WY on way to Devils Tower.

Center of the Nation monument/museum-North end of Bel Fourche.

Bear Butte State Park-east side of Sturgis. Cant miss this huge 'mountain'.

Ft Meade museum-East side of Sturgis

Buffalo Chip campground-Massive campground east of Sturgis. Its been petitioned to become its own city. Awaiting to be voted on. You do pass Full Throttle Saloon on the way, which will be closed.

Stoneville Saloon in Alzada MT-oldest bar in the territory. Home of the Dakota Territory Riders  Evil

Vanocker Canyon-Sturgis exit 32 south. Less traveled road into the Hills or back way into Rapid City.

Sturgis motorcycle museum-Sturgis

Deadwood-take a whole day to visit the town. When visiting Calamity Jane/Hickok grave on Mt Moriah be very careful parking. Its on a slight slope that is hard to see and many bikes get dumped up there.

Valhalla drive/Valkyrie Way road signs-across from a golf course between Deadwood & Sturgis on 14a. Little housing addition on the south side of the road.

Stone house/saloon-Between Alladin WY & Bel Fourche SD. Old stone house in the middle of a field. Maybe or not be open. Neat to walk thru and sign your name on the interior. Its a bar at rally time.

Tom's T's-downtown Sturgis. Get souvenir shirts from the original Rally design maker. Sweet old lady works there.

Ill post more as I think of them. Hope this helps!  cooldude

I would add Roughlock Falls (in Spearfish Canyon), Sylvan Lake and Harney Peak (highest peak east of the Rockies in the USA).  Lake Pactola has some nice day use areas too.

Roughlock Falls is where, in 1975, my future wife realized that I was the one she wanted to marry.  It took me a little longer.  We didn't get married until 1978.  We are still together after 40 years, although she will not be coming along with me.  She doesn't like motorcycles.

Anyone been to Theodore Roosevelt National Park on the Scenic Drive?  That's on my radar for Saturday the 6th.

That's a little farther north in North Dakota, but I have been there a couple of times.

One Eyed Jacks is open.  cooldude Good place to eat and quench your thirst. The shotgun chili is awesome. City block in size. Right beside the HA club house.  Roll Eyes

EasyRiders saloon is always open and another wonderful menu. Might even let you upstairs on the balcony to overlook the town.

Very nice place, but quite a ways from the Black Hills.  From Spearfish, would be almost a 3 hour ride north.  Check out where Medora, ND is on I94 in western ND.  That is where the park is located.  The scenic drive is very nice, but a lot of riding to get there!
