Yesterday was in town on my 98 Valk and stopped at the local hardware store. A guy in there I have been knowing for years has a 1800 goldwing. One thing lead to another and today we ran. We ran the 1/8 the 1/4 and top end. I came out on top in the 1/8 and the 1/4. Couldn't hold him off pass 120. I guess those extra hp kicked in.  I did lose one in the 1/4. Came out of the hole too hard. I figured with the car tire I was pretty safe, wrong. He laughed and went back and looked. I smoked the car tire about 40 ft. In all I was well pleased how she did today. I will say the 1800 are strong on the top end.

I have got to get busy going over my bike. I ridden an 1800 wing and my Valkyrie cannot stay with one. Between pulling wheelies and out running 1800 wings my girl needs some attention. Last time I was a the local Victory dealer they had a dyno. Looks like I need to get a baseline and start wrenching.

Its aerodynamics. the wing just squats and runs at high speeds. It is awesome to run 120, 130 on a wing and still smoke a ciggy behind the curtain.lol

My 02. I think it is the "rider" Bet if you rode his Wing and he your Valk. , the Wing would take it all. I don`t see a 1500 Valk. besting a 1800 FI Wing.   Shocked Undecided

Nope not the riders. Mine runs pretty good. I'm running a 6 degree trigger wheel, 38 slow jets, dyna jet needles, I/S carb springs and a 55 series car tire. I keep mine well tuned also, being a mechanic by trade I can't help but do that. Like I said in the other post once we hit the 1/4 mark he was coming on strong.

Done it more than once, although most wouldn't ride a Valk as hard as I do.

No wonder! if your running a 55 series tire and the circumference is anything near a 60 series motorcycle tire. The bottom end run would be extremely strong and not too big of a surprise that the 1800 was coming on strong by the quarter.

I've often said that the outcome of a lot of match-ups is determined by who is willing to push it to the limits. Have a friend who had an 1800 Wing and another rider told him to " lead off and we'll keep up" . He grinned and said " Not if I don't want you to.... " A little cocky but not far from the truth.
