Missoula MT will be my half way point from Richmond BC to Spearfish SD for Inzane. My intention is to spend the night there. Does anyone know the area and can recommend a nice inexpensive Hotel/Inn to stay at? (8 nights at hotels will all add up)

If I'm up for driving further (after 9 hrs driving), I also may end up continuing down the highway to the next city (Butte MT?), and be that much closer to Spearfish. I think it's another 2 hours closer.

What day/night are you expecting to be I Missoula? We are leaving Boise on Thurs the 4th and spending the first night in West Yellowstone (Thursday) we will stay and ride the Yellowstone National Park on Friday leaving out the eastside of the park and staying Friday night in Cody. Then its on to Spearfish on Saturday.

If possible maybe you could hook up with us someplace depending on when you will be coming through Montana.

I'm just 60 miles east of Butte. If cost is of concern I would keep going and stay in Deer Lodge,Anaconda or Butte. You will pay top dollar in Missoula and Bozeman. There is a nice little mom and pop in Anaconda. Nothing fancy but a clean bed and shower. It's called the Trade Winds. If you continue to Butte I would stay at one of the major chains.
Two of us from here are leaving Saturday or Sunday (we haven't decided yet) for spearfish if you will be thru here about then you are welcome to join us.

When I am looking for a place to stay in a place I haven't been before, I use Google search and enter...... Lodging,(enter city & state) then use the result that has the Trip Adviser revues and pick one that sounds good.

I've thought of using the search engines, but felt if someone knew of a place that had good access to the Hwy, time savings is worth it.

I'm leaving Sat morning, 6am on the road I'm hoping for. Each day will be 9 hrs hwy time, but getting on/off the hwy for food and fuel will take another hour and the time to fuel and eat, I'm figuring I'll be 12 hrs on the road each day. 600 + miles. Trying to take the most direct route to save time.

Spending only 3 nights in Spearfish, then a nice 5 day drive home. I don't even know if I'll plan the trip home, or just drive that direction.

Chances are we will be leaving Sunday from here. About the time you roll thru town. We will probably turn off the interstate and head for Wyoming at Columbus Mt. Ride over the bighorns and for Gillette then to spearfish. Might make it in one day might not depends on how much goofin off we do which can vary day to day. We plan on being I'm S.D. Mon thu Thursday. Head home on Friday but not in a hurry.

The "Trip Adviser" search results will give you all of that info,Like location and what's nearby like food. Usually each hotels' site will have a map and directions.
