2 questions for those of you here that are riding this tire. I've looked all over both sides of this tire and can not seem to locate a direction arrow.  Lips Sealed Does it have a direction arrow?  Undecided What pressure seems to work best for you? I'm between 225 and 235 depending on how large the buffet was!  Roll Eyes Mostly one up on an I/S. Ad as always T I A for any and all information.  cooldude RIDE SAFE.

Dennis - I just got back from GOTF, first time with the Austone/ Avon combination. Running 40/38 and it was great.

The words go on the outside.

Sorry, couldn't resist. Evil

Austone is non-directional.

I run mine at about 32 - 34 psi two up.

One of the reason I wanted a CT was to run lower pressure.

Just mounted mine on the weekend, and hope to get it on my bike 2 weeks from now. Found it non-directional, no signs of an arrow.

Thanks for the air pressure, since I'll need to know where to start with it.

I have a couple questions regarding the Austone Taxi tire. 1) Does the Austone taxi tire require the fender nut cage modification? 2) with the tire being taller could it rub on fender if you bottom out?

1.  - no.

2.  Mine rubbed only two up with some shorter progressive shocks, I think they were 12.5", took them off and sold them, put the oems back on no rubbing.

I also mounted an ATT for the first time this spring.  I'm trying to get a more comfortable ride with 35 PSI cold in the tires after running with 44 PSI in the Avon Cobras.  Went out for the first real ride last Saturday putting 170 miles on the odo.  The rear tire pressure went up to 38 once warned up.  I really enjoyed how it handled at all speeds, no surprises.  My nut cages have been gone for a long time after one of those rectangular nuts had stripped threads, and I'm glad I have nothing short of 13" Progressive rear shocks...

Funny this topic was current.  I was going to post one asking the pressure question myself.  I pulled my worn rear tire yesterday and put on the Austone I had previously mounted on a spare wheel on the other IS I sold last Fall.  I was trying to remember what pressure I was running and looked this up.

Man the pressures are all over the spectrum so it seems.... But I think I will start with 35lbs and go from there.

I was wondering if anybody could tell me the tire speed rating on the Austone Taxi tire..

Somewhere I was reading it was 85MPH which to me it is going to be an issue.

Please confirm..

thanks.

Don't forget, that speed rating has a corresponding load rating.  I'm not a tire engineer, but I would guess that mounted on a Valkyrie, the ATT is operating no where near the load rating of that tire and there fore, I would be very comfortable runnign it at max speed on the Valk.

I wouldn't worry to much about the speed rating, I have had mine to 110 - 115 riding 2 up and had no problems. I tend to keep the pressure high at about 42psi. The only reason i have it this high is because it seems to have some death wobble at psi lower than 40 past 100mph. For some reason the higher PSI corrected that issue.

There is no direction arrow on the Austone, just mount and ride. I'm using 35-37psi. with excellent results.

No need for the nut cage mod, but it will bottom out when 2-up on major bumps unless you crank up the spring tension on the shocks.

Best handling CT I've ridden on, hard to tell you're not on a MT.

At high speeds the Austone tire does wobble if under inflated, this is due to the high sidewall, by bumping up the air pressure to 40-45 solves the problem....if the tire is underinflated the front end will drift back and forth, almost like it's searching for the center line, this happen to me one day after letting the bike sit and the air pressure dropped down and because I was just running to town didn't check the tire pressure, though the steering bearing was going, till I read a post about the wobble from under inflation...added air and the wobble disappeared... cooldude

What is the size for the Austone needed for the Valk and where is the best place to buy one. I've checked some of the tire places around town here with no luck.
