Recently i have been having an issue with my Valk acting like it was out of gas, sometimes with only 50 or 60 miles on a tank. so i switch to reserve and head to the station fill up with fuel and all is good again when i switch back to on. Does anyone have any ideas on why it is acting like this, is it a petcock problem or the straws up inside the tank? I would appreciate any help if you have had this issue

Also symptoms of an added in line fuel filter (in some cases), fuel mod (lengthened) or pinched tank vent hose. Good luck

That duration leads me to believe it is a plugged or kinked vent line.  Have you had the tank off recently?  When you open the gas cap to put fuel in...do you hear air rushing into the tank?

What was the last thing you did in maintenance work on the bike.

I'd start there.

Next I'd remove that inline gas filter you added.

Or the new gas line you added and added a couple of inches so as to be able to get it installed on the pertcock easier.

Joe you beat me to it. Years ago I had a piece of crud get drawn into the end of my vent line and would cause the tank to starve for air. I would open gas cap and would be good again. As already mentioned the petcock will cause same/ similar symptoms.

If you've done something involving the tank or fuel lines, keep in mind; it all has to run downhill from the petcock. I've had an inline filter inplace for years with no trouble, also had a quick disconnect with no trouble but it leaked so removed it and installed a DanMarc elec. shutoff. Nary a hiccup. Check the simple stuff first, i.e., the vent hose.

My guess would be kinked/plugged vent line.

I had this vary same problem. I just bought a 99 Honda Magna that had been sitting. The seller said it was a cold starter. Once I got it home it kept stalling, I thought it was bad gas. I kept trying to treat the gas. It left me high and dry (no pun intended) with the effect of running out of gas. Always would start if choked. Twice however it would not start and I found that if I opened the tank cap it would then start. I never heard and air sucking sound, but I am old and wear hearing aids. I did research runing problems and always in the mix was a possilbe clogged vent tube. I broke out my compressor, opened the tank cap, located the vent tube under the bike and forced air into the tube. No indication that any air was getting to the tank. Lifted the tank and found that the tank was pinching the vent tube to the frame. Straightened the tube and did the air test again and obviously air was being forced out the tank cap. Now runs great. It was never bad gas just not venting. Once the interior air was used up, the gravity feed of gas stopped.  Good Luck.
