I realize this thread is useless without pics, I can take some another day, but does anybody else's factory chrome mufflers on their 2014 (or 2015) Valkyrie have small grey painted-spots on them?

Looks kind of like a cut/weld spot that was touched up in a grey primer.

There's a total of 2 or 3 of these small (half-inch) strips of touchup grey on the chrome.

I'll definitely get pictures later, if you're not looking for them you might otherwise miss them.

Thought it was just on the model I was buying, but each of the three 2014 Valkyrie bikes at the dealer had the same grey spots on the chrome mufflers. I didn't think to look at the other dealers I was shopping at.

Just a quick sanity check!  uglystupid2

You hit the nail on the head...it is where they spot welded the mufflers after chroming (during final assembly) then touched it with gray paint.  Haven't looked at the new Valkyrie but have seen it on other bikes.  Hopefully they aren't in a visible location.

Ok, that makes good sense.

They actually have it already...but there are a couple of problems with using it for this application.  First...you wouldn't get the same finish as a plated part.  Second...I am not sure the rattlecan stuff can handle the temperatures of an exhaust system.

That's odd.  Is that on the outward facing edge where it's plainly visible from the side?  I'm sure mine had those but mine must be underneath because they're not readily visible.

That pic is of the right muffler and no, it's not easily visible from the side like the picture makes it seem.

I held the camera at a pretty good angle, and the bike is on the side stand so the right muffler is up at an angle which it isn't while riding.

The mark on the left side muffler is a little more visible but again, it's not the first thing your eye is drawn to.

Kinda silly that it's even on there at all...
