Hi All,

Are there any instructions on changing a footpeg? Specifically, I am looking for information on what to do with the return spring. What is the proper orientation, etc.?

I have a second, old set of pegs that I am practicing on. I disassembled the left one and now I can't get the cursed thing back together! Glad I didn't start with the one on the bike itself.

Also, I purchased a set of Wing pegs, or at least they were advertised as such, stiletto style. They don't seem to fit - their orientation is wrong if I line up the mounting holes. Can this be adjusted? Any tips on knowing what kind of peg will work on the bike?

hey cogsman,

First off...if you don't have it...you need the service manual.  I can't access it from work but I am almost positive that the assembly information is in the manual.  You can get the manual at the link below.

I have also included the parts fiche of the footpegs (Honda calls them steps).

The diagram doesn't show exactly how it goes in but I will try to explain it.

The ear of the spring that goes into the mount rests on the bottom.  The ear towards the peg goes on the flat surface perpendicular to the mount (the flat surface the peg arm is mounted to).  To get the spring back in correctly, I would position the spring in the peg side first, then set the bike side ear on the bracket and push down.  Once you have it lined up, push in the pin.

I have done it a few times and usually don't take more than once or twice to do it.

Did it guys! Replaced both sides and the rear brake still works! I didn't kill it after all lol. Thanks for all of your help. I'm sure I'll have more questions on the next fix. Cheers!
